Requirements
  • Three years of experience preparing food from a grill in a high-volume setting.
  • National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation ServSafe Protection Certification, or the ability to obtain the ServSafe Protection Certificate within the first 6 to 12 months of employment and maintain it throughout employment.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to read and understand recipes, including culinary mathematics.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet established goals and deadlines.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and serve all food from the grill, pizza, salad, and fry areas of the Bistro.
  • Prepare food items for future concepts and catering services as directed by unit management.
  • Perform the food service worker function daily.
  • Contribute to a friendly, welcoming, and safe environment for University Hospital customers.
  • Communicate clearly to ensure understanding.
  • Respond to complaints and concerns by resolving issues immediately whenever possible.
  • Organize work processes to accommodate customer needs, including internal customers and coworkers.
  • Meet or exceed customer expectations for service and act as a role model for service excellence.
  • Maintain professional composure in the workplace.
  • Work effectively with the team to meet or exceed customer-service targets for the work area and demonstrate respect for patient rights.
  • Set up and prepare food according to standardized recipes.
  • Prepare pizzas, salads, appetizers, burgers, and other menu items requested by customers.
  • Maintain food quality and quantity control in accordance with guidelines and standard recipes.
  • Comply with sanitation, safety, and customer-service standards.
  • Maintain effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Rotate to the cafeteria or main kitchen as assigned based on operational needs.
  • Adhere to University Hospital’s compliance standards, including its Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Keep current with applicable federal, state, and University Hospital regulations, laws, and policies as they change.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
