Rystad Energy and OceanScore bring FuelEU Maritime pooling prices into clean shipping research.

Rystad Energy and OceanScore bring FuelEU Maritime pooling prices into clean shipping research. FuelEU Maritime has created a new market for compliance surplus. The price of that surplus now shapes how shipowners, charterers and fuel suppliers weigh their options, yet much of the industry still has to estimate what pooling really costs. Rystad Energy and OceanScore are working together to close that gap. Rystad Energy announces minority growth investment from Marlin Equity Partners and leadership change. Rystad Energy today announces it has entered into a definitive agreement for a new minority capital investment from Marlin Equity Partners alongside a planned leadership transition. 06 Oct 2026 The new capital will fund Rystad Energy's next stage of expansion across data, analytics, advisory and technology, building on the strategy that has shaped the company since its founding, with Rystad Energy retaining majority ownership following the investment. Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Lars Eirik Nicolaisen will become CEO of Rystad Energy on 12 October 2026, succeeding founder Jarand Rystad, who will become Executive Chairman. The investment marks the latest step in a year of sustained growth for the company, with a meaningful share of the funding supporting the continued development of the company's artificial intelligence capabilities, including Spektra, the technology ecosystem that Rystad Energy launched on 20 August 2026. Spektra combines web-based workspaces, Model Context Protocol (MCP) connectors and an Application Programming Interface (API) gateway in a single system, giving clients the flexibility to consume and integrate capabilities in the way that works best for them. "The Rystad team impressed us with their proprietary data assets and customer-centric product offering. We believe Rystad's integrated, asset-level intelligence platform is strategically positioned to drive sustained growth as energy markets become more complex and data-driven," said Walter Mair, a principal at Marlin. "We are excited to work alongside the founder and management team to provide operational and financial resources that will support Rystad's continued growth." Lars Eirik Nicolaisen will become CEO effective 12 October 2026. Nicolaisen has served as deputy CEO for the past 8 years, working closely with the executive team to expand Rystad Energy's global footprint, client base and technology platform. He will lead the company through its next chapter, with a continued focus on the data, analytics and AI-driven tools that clients rely on every day. "We remain committed to giving our clients the most accurate and trusted data and insight in the industry, delivered through the technology that fits how they work, whether on our platform, through our API or via MCP into the tools they already use," said Nicolaisen. "That commitment is backed by a dedicated team of energy experts in the market, and we will keep investing in both." Nicolaisen succeeds Jarand Rystad, who founded Rystad Energy in 2004 and has led the company for the past 22 years. Jarand Rystad will retain the controlling shares in the company and move into the role of Executive Chairman. He will continue to guide the company's long-term direction and remain actively involved in developing thought leadership and working closely with clients. "We are thrilled to partner with Marlin to accelerate our growth and further enhance our product offering," said Jarand Rystad, Founder of Rystad Energy. "Energy markets are becoming more complex, and decision-makers increasingly rely on granular, independent analysis to navigate them. Marlin is a tech-specialist operator, and this partnership gives us the resources to invest further in our data platform and AI capabilities, which will allow us to better serve clients across the energy ecosystem. I am proud of the journey we have built over the past 22 years, and thankful for Marlin Equity Partners' trust and shared vision for our future," continued Jarand Rystad. "As Executive Chairman, I look forward to spending more time with clients and energy leaders around the world, through travel and thought leadership. Additionally, I am pleased to welcome Lars Eirik, our Deputy Chief Executive Officer for the past eight years, as our new CEO. Rystad Energy Innovate: a new vision for energy intelligence in the AI era.

Rystad Energy Innovate: a new vision for energy intelligence in the AI era. Rystad Energy AS 3 mins read Spektra reaches full commercial launch at Rystad Energy Innovate on 20 August 2026. Oslo, Norway, Aug. 18, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) - Rystad Energy will set out a new vision for energy intelligence in the AI era at Innovate, an online broadcast on 20 August 2026. The event marks the full commercial launch of Spektra, Rystad Energy's AI-native market intelligence platform, and is open to clients and the market. The way the energy industry accesses and uses data is changing. Spektra launched in beta in June 2026, giving clients access to a platform that brings Rystad Energy's full commercial databases into a single workspace. Users can create unlimited workspaces to suit their workflows, bringing together data from multiple datasets, eliminating the need to switch between tools. Innovate is the moment Spektra moves to full commercial availability, and the complete story is told publicly for the first time. For two decades, Rystad Energy has built the data the energy industry runs on. Spektra is the next step: a single system that combines powerful data exploration in web-based workspaces, plus MCP connectors and an API gateway, giving energy professionals the flexibility to access and integrate Rystad Energy data in the way that works best for them. The platform draws on millions of energy assets globally, including 85,000+ oil and gas fields, more than 2 million wells, and 200,000+ conventional and renewable energy power plants, all independently sourced and verified. "Energy markets are becoming more complex, and the demand for faster, more reliable intelligence is only growing. Spektra is built for that new reality and is designed around how energy professionals actually work, giving swift and flexible access to the most reliable energy data in the industry. The platform is easy and intuitive to use, but also with the depth needed for the most sophisticated users. At Innovate, we will show what Rystad Energy's reinvention as an AI-native data platform means in practice, and where we are taking energy intelligence next," said Lars Eirik Nicolaisen, Deputy CEO, Rystad Energy. At Innovate, Rystad Energy will demonstrate the full AI ecosystem live: AskRystad, MCP and the Microsoft 365 Copilot integration, alongside how the data now reaches directly into the tools the industry already uses. Clients who shaped Spektra will take the stage, sharing how the platform has changed the way they work. Partner integrations with HSBC, SLB, Quorum and FutureOn will show how Rystad Energy data reaches the operational tools the industry depends on. "Energy professionals need trusted intelligence they can act on quickly. By bringing Rystad Energy's proprietary data into Microsoft 365 Copilot through MCP, we are integrating two decades of industry expertise directly into their flow of work. The result is faster access to critical insights, more informed decisions, and greater business impact across the organizations that rely on this intelligence," said Per Christian Honningsvåg, General Manager, Energy and Resources, Microsoft. Rystad Energy Innovate takes place on Thursday, 20 August 2026, broadcast from the Rystad Energy Oslo studio. The event is open to clients and the market. Register now.
