  • A Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or Program Management discipline, or equivalent experience of four years.
  • At least ten years of project management experience in aerospace, manufacturing, or a similar industry.
  • Must be a U.S. Person under the ITAR definition: a U.S. citizen, green card holder, or person covered under an existing ITAR license.
  • Must be able to travel independently and at short notice.
  • Must be able to perform the listed physical tasks, including reading screens, documents, reports and engineering drawings; hearing and speaking in person and by phone or teleconference; operating standard office equipment; carrying and lifting up to 10 pounds; sitting for extended periods; occasional pushing, pulling, squatting, kneeling and walking; and frequent travel.
  • Required personal protective equipment includes safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators or masks, and protective gloves as required by the site or customer site. Steel-toed shoes and appropriate hearing and eye protection are required for shop-floor visits.
  • Must have current work authorization; the company states that it does not sponsor visas for U.S. positions unless specified.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee the end-to-end acquisition, completion, maintenance, and delivery of specialized aircraft across North American and global commercial markets.
  • Lead a team of six to eight program managers and direct cross-functional teams of up to 50 contributors across Engineering, Flight Test, Quality, and Procurement.
  • Manage complex project budgets, drive Earned Value Management metrics including Schedule Performance Indicator and Cost Performance Indicator, and serve as the primary customer champion for Air Medical, Law Enforcement, Utility, and Corporate/PBA mission profiles.
  • Work with stakeholders to bring projects to completion on schedule, within budget, and at the required quality; ensure project team members understand their commitments, budget and schedule inputs, and schedule and budget status.
  • Guide customers through the aircraft acquisition and completion process, focus on customer experience, manage to contract, and maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Develop project schedules in Microsoft Project or Smartsheet, including predecessors, successors, planned and actual start and finish dates, and critical path analysis; track Schedule Performance Indicator.
  • Develop project budgets with input from functional departments and track Cost Performance Indicator.
  • Participate early in offer, proposal, and sales phases; support sales and offers teams with technical advice on configuration and compatibility; own contracts from early stages through completion.
  • Work with Sales and Marketing to establish standard and customer-specific configurations based on market and customer demand, and negotiate delivery of airframes from European production sites to meet delivery timelines.
  • Drive efficiencies through a balanced mix of production-line and post-production installations.
  • Review project schedules with Commercial Programs project managers regularly and update the master schedule with actual start and finish dates.
  • Ensure high customer satisfaction at delivery and adapt the delivery process and environment for on-site and off-site deliveries and different customer segments, including PBA, Utility, ALE, and AME.
  • Take charge of non-recurring projects and tasks, including product improvements, special projects, new product developments, entry into service, and critical projects.
  • Work with Safety and participate in Safety Review Boards to represent Commercial Programs interests.
  • Address major supply-chain and quality issues that significantly limit the Commercial Programs department’s ability to meet commitments, and mitigate drivers of customer dissatisfaction.
  • Improve the delivery experience for all customers, with particular focus on PBA customers.
  • Coordinate with Facilities, Sales and Marketing, and Finance on delivery-center evolution, including feasibility studies, business cases, and project execution.
  • Develop, monitor, and measure individual and team performance metrics to improve efficiency and ensure individual performance is measured fairly and consistently across functions.
  • Provide leadership, expertise, and support to team members.

  • Technical experience to understand technical data packages.

Airbus A350F freighter completes maiden flight with 4.3m cargo door for servers

Airbus has successfully completed the first flight of its A350F freighter, bringing the aerospace giant closer to delivering a high-capacity cargo aircraft. The plane took off from Airbus headquarters in Toulouse, France, flying for four hours and ten minutes and reaching 25,000 feet. The A350F can carry a payload of 109 tonnes, compared to 64 tonnes for the existing A330F. It features a 4.3-metre cargo door large enough to accommodate turbofan engines and high-density computer servers. Airbus claims the A350F is more efficient than Boeing's rival 777F, despite having slightly less capacity. The company has already received orders for 115 A350Fs. A second test aircraft is nearly complete as Airbus begins the certification process requiring hundreds of test flights.

Airbus and Qantas back $30M funding for Australian SAF developer Jet Zero

Jet Zero Australia has raised $30 million to advance Project Ulysses, a commercial-scale sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel refinery in Townsville. The funding round was backed by institutional investors including Qantas and Airbus, both returning investors from 2023. South Korean company Posco International joined as a new strategic investor, with the parties exploring opportunities in fuel offtake, infrastructure and feedstock. The capital will fund completion of Front-End Engineering Design and support the project's progress towards Final Investment Decision and construction. Founded in 2021 by Ed Mason, Jet Zero develops biofuels production capacity in regional Australia. The project has received its final Development Permit Decision Notice from Queensland's Office of the Coordinator-General. It is expected to create approximately 1,000 construction jobs and 100 permanent operational roles.

Airbus shelves stricter office return plan after Spanish union strikes

Airbus has postponed its plan to reduce remote working after strikes by Spanish unions, Reuters reports. The aerospace manufacturer will allow employees to continue working from home an average of two days per week, shelving indefinitely a push to limit remote work to one day. Chief Executive Guillaume Faury had sought to require white-collar staff on-site four days weekly by September, citing the need for knowledge transfer. Spanish unions said roughly 40% of Airbus's 14,000 Spanish employees have walked out over remote work policies, transport, leave and wages. An Airbus spokesperson said the company would implement the transition "more gradually" based on employee feedback. French unions estimate a quarter to a third of Airbus's workforce has been hired in the past three years. Aircraft production has not been affected by the disruptions.
