Assistant Project Manager - Capital Construction Projects
About the job
- An associate degree in an engineering field is required; technical, trade/vocational, or union apprenticeship certificate holders will also be considered.
- Three to five years of experience in cooperative, apprenticeship, full-time, or part-time work within engineering, construction, real estate, or facility management industries is required.
- Ability to understand and interpret design and construction documents.
- Familiarity with architectural, electrical, technology, and piped or ducted systems used in a healthcare setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications.
- Basic understanding of project schedule concepts.
- Familiarity with collaborative project management software, specifically Procore.
- Strong organization and problem-solving skills.
- Coordinate and manage assigned capital construction projects from planning and design through construction, occupancy, and project closeout under the direction of the Assistant Director for Capital Projects.
- Manage and administer daily capital project activities, including planning, budgeting, contract document preparation, weekly project meetings, construction oversight, end-user requirements, professional consultants, construction administration, and end-user occupancy.
- Assist the Senior Project Manager, Facility Directors, and in-house trades with tasks required to execute capital and infrastructure improvement projects.
- Budget interim moves and infrastructure upgrades required for planned projects.
- Identify architectural projects and analyze their viability.
- Develop space-planning options and schematic sketches.
- Coordinate facility moves and identify design and construction scopes.
- Coordinate consultant and contractor requests for proposals or quotations with the Purchasing department.
- Support design, consulting, and construction contracts using various project delivery methods.
- Coordinate mechanical, electrical, and technology work for new projects to ensure compliance with current regulations.
- Interface with hospital departments regarding specialized equipment or systems required for projects.
- Control and distribute project documentation, including as-built documents, warranties, and operations and maintenance documents.
- Observe jobsites and report on in-progress activities.
- Track issued contract documents, contract values, approved and pending contract changes, and billing status.
- Observe and report on Infection Control Risk Assessment compliance, general safety, and housekeeping conditions in coordination with infection control, environmental, and safety staff.
- Learn existing building systems and the organizationâs structure.
- Adhere to the organizationâs compliance standards, Code of Conduct, Conflict of Interest Policy, and applicable federal, state, and organizational regulations, laws, and policies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
