About the job

Requirements
  • At least 2 years managing features end to end through the software development life cycle.
  • Experience working within traditional Scrum and adapting it to iterative customer feedback loops; experience shipping incomplete software intentionally to learn faster.
  • Experience building alongside engineers and data scientists to deploy AI-centric features at scale, with enough technical fluency to discuss data models, application programming interfaces, and service boundaries with senior engineers.
  • Daily hands-on use of AI tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent to ship real work, including the ability to explain how context is structured and outputs are checked.
  • Comfort engaging customers in person and on calls, including warehouse users, sales executives, and prospects; ability to present to prospects.
  • Ability to make data-driven decisions while navigating uncertainty in early-stage vertical business-to-business software as a service.
  • Ability to solve complex problems and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong business intuition and an appetite for innovation, iteration, and AI excellence.
Responsibilities
  • Own a product domain end to end, from discovery and definition through build, launch, adoption, and revenue outcomes.
  • Visit distributor worksites, shadow users, and conduct discovery calls to understand workflows and user needs.
  • Run iterative customer-in-the-loop development, putting working software in front of users early and using feedback to guide subsequent cycles.
  • Work hands-on with engineering, design, and data science to ship features and agentic workflows, and ensure the user experience enables action on AI outputs.
  • Run alpha and beta releases, support initial rollouts, drive adoption across the installed base, and identify where and why adoption stalls.
  • Enable go-to-market teams with product positioning, proof, and training; join customer and prospect calls, demonstrate the product as useful, and ensure it can be sold and supported without the product manager present.
Desired Qualifications
  • Early-stage startup experience from Seed through Series B or C.
  • Experience with complex business-to-business, enterprise, or enterprise resource planning-adjacent software, especially high-frequency workflows users cannot opt out of.
  • Experience with agentic products and patterns for trust, correction, and handoff between a person and an agent.
  • Experience with systems of record or integrations, including turning messy real-world source data into a clean canonical model and understanding the consequences when it does not.

About the company

Proton.ai provides AI-driven sales solutions for B2B teams. It collects and analyzes data from six sales channels to build a single, comprehensive view of each customer, enabling sales reps to run highly personalized and targeted outreach. The platform uses data analytics and machine learning to translate raw data into actionable insights and recommendations, which are delivered through a subscription-based platform. The company differentiates itself by integrating multi-channel data into one unified profile and by focusing on measurable outcomes, such as a 5-10% increase in total revenue and a 10% lift in average order value for mid-to-large enterprises. Proton.ai’s goal is to help businesses modernize their sales processes, improve customer engagement, and grow revenue by delivering data-driven, personalized selling at scale.

What believers are saying

  • March 17, 2026 launch expanded Proton into four modules on one platform.
  • MSC Industrial Supply cited Proton since 2021 and reported 20x upsell revenue.
  • VAI integrated Proton into ERP offerings, and the September 2026 partner program broadened distribution.

What critics are saying

  • Quote and order entry remains waitlist-only, leaving Proton without its most labor-saving module.
  • Infor, ERP-native suites, and CRMs can bundle similar recommendations before distributors switch.
  • If distributors standardize on ERP-native AI, Proton loses the platform battle.

What makes Proton.ai unique

  • Proton.ai sells a distribution-specific industry cloud, not a generic CRM.
  • Its shared data layer unifies CRM, PIM, ecommerce, and order automation.
  • AI trained on ERP order history guides reps on accounts, products, and timing.

Proton.ai launches unified industry cloud platform for distributors.

Proton.ai launches unified industry cloud platform for distributors. Proton.ai launched an AI-powered "industry cloud" platform that unifies CRM, PIM, eCommerce and order automation into a single system, aiming to replace disconnected point solutions and streamline distributor workflows with shared data and integrated intelligence. Proton.ai has introduced a cloud-based platform designed to consolidate multiple software functions used by distributors into a single, AI-powered system, the company announced March 17. Positioned as an "industry cloud" for distribution, the platform combines several core capabilities - including CRM, product information management (PIM), eCommerce recommendations and quote/order entry automation - into one shared data environment. The goal is to replace the fragmented mix of point solutions that many distributors rely on today. The company said distributors often operate with disconnected systems that create data silos and require manual workarounds, such as rekeying information across platforms. By consolidating these functions, Proton.ai aims to reduce software contracts, integration complexity and ongoing maintenance costs while improving data consistency. The platform currently includes four primary modules: * CRM: Uses AI trained on ERP order history to recommend which accounts to contact, what products to promote and when to engage, with the intent of guiding sales activity rather than simply recording it. * PIM: Automates the collection, enrichment and standardization of product data from manufacturer sources. The tool is designed to reduce manual data work and improve data quality, while generating unique product content for each distributor. * eCommerce recommendation engine: Embeds personalized product suggestions based on historical purchasing behavior, similar to consumer retail platforms, to increase order value and conversion rates. * Quote and order entry automation: Currently in waitlist phase, this tool reads incoming orders and quotes from emails or PDFs, drafts them for review and integrates them into internal systems. All modules operate on a shared data layer, which Proton.ai says allows each component to improve over time while keeping distributor data private and portable. The company also emphasized the operational burden created by point solutions, noting that distributors often spend significant time managing integrations and reconciling inconsistent data across systems. Proton.ai CEO Benj Cohen said the platform is intended to shift that dynamic by delivering more integrated functionality out of the box. Customer examples cited in the announcement include Trade Supply Group, which uses the PIM tool to improve product data quality, and MSC Industrial Supply, which has expanded its use of Proton.ai's AI-driven tools since 2021. Proton.ai said its CRM, PIM and eCommerce tools are available now, while the quote and order entry product is in development. Additional capabilities, including AI-driven pricing and inventory management, are planned as part of the platform's roadmap.
