About the job
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in development and strategy, understanding contracts, and project management; experience in development in the Midwest or Northeast territories is strongly preferred.
- General business knowledge and broad-based knowledge of development processes.
- Strong written and oral communication, with the ability to negotiate and persuade others.
- Advanced capabilities in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to work with and manage confidential information.
- Strong organizational, analytical, project, process, and budgeting skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to the listed skills; a BA, BS, MS, or MBA in engineering, environmental, or business disciplines.
- Execute project development strategy in the region.
- Take accountability for project development aspects at an assigned site, including customer and utility relations, permitting, land acquisition, general stakeholder relations, and project schedule.
- Work with the origination team to cultivate customer relationships in the region.
- Work closely with internal and external resources on project transactions.
- Manage budgets and drive profitability of utility-scale projects on assigned sites.
- Oversee power generation project development through transition to construction, including supporting real estate negotiations, securing land use and special use and environmental permitting approvals, interfacing with local and state officials, and advancing projects through the interconnection process.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants and stakeholders across interconnection, power marketing, engineering, legal, and procurement to support effective project execution.
- Develop and deliver commercial and utility-scale battery storage and solar projects to successful close.
- Work with internal Construction and Operations teams to execute efficient handoffs throughout the development lifecycle.
- Manage project schedules and budgets and report to Vistra management.
- Experience in development in the Midwest or Northeast territories.
