Requirements
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in Infrastructure Engineering, Systems Administration, Cloud Engineering, DevOps, IT Operations, or a related technical field.
  • Foundational knowledge of AWS and/or Microsoft Azure cloud services.
  • Basic administration knowledge of Linux and/or Windows Server environments.
  • Understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/HTTPS, VPN, firewalls, load balancers, subnets, and routing.
  • Basic understanding of cloud networking and security concepts.
  • Familiarity with scripting using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or shell scripting.
  • Basic knowledge of Git and version control.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or similar.
  • Basic knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
  • Understanding of monitoring, logging, alerting, and troubleshooting concepts.
  • Basic understanding of Identity and Access Management and role-based access control.
  • Understanding of general cybersecurity principles, secure configurations, patching, and vulnerability management.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with developers, infrastructure engineers, security teams, and other technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to create and maintain clear technical documentation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in the implementation, configuration, administration, and maintenance of cloud and on-premises infrastructure.
  • Support Linux and/or Windows servers, virtual machines, storage, network components, and related infrastructure services.
  • Assist senior engineers with provisioning, configuration, upgrades, patching, and ongoing maintenance of infrastructure environments.
  • Monitor infrastructure availability, system performance, capacity, and health using enterprise monitoring and logging tools.
  • Troubleshoot server, operating system, network, application connectivity, and infrastructure-related issues.
  • Support cloud infrastructure services in AWS and/or Azure environments.
  • Assist with infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or similar technologies.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps processes with application development and engineering teams.
  • Assist with containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift.
  • Support identity and access management activities, including user access, permissions, service accounts, and role-based access controls.
  • Assist with vulnerability remediation, system hardening, security patches, and configuration updates in accordance with federal and organizational security requirements.
  • Participate in incident troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and resolution of infrastructure-related issues.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including configuration documents, standard operating procedures, runbooks, architecture information, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge-base articles.
  • Support infrastructure changes across development, testing, staging, and production environments.
  • Work with senior engineers to improve infrastructure reliability, availability, scalability, security, and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, technical meetings, sprint activities, and team discussions.
  • Assist with production deployments and operational support activities.
  • Escalate complex infrastructure and security issues to senior engineers and appropriate technical teams.
Desired Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, RDS, Route 53, or related services.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure services.
  • Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
  • Experience with Terraform, Ansible, AWS CloudFormation, or other infrastructure automation technologies.
  • Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools such as Splunk, CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, or similar.
  • Understanding of DevOps and DevSecOps methodologies.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Understanding of SSL/TLS certificates, encryption, secrets management, and secure credential handling.
  • Exposure to federal cybersecurity and compliance environments, including NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP, or DHS security standards.
  • Previous experience supporting a federal government client, particularly DHS or USCIS.
