Requirements
  • A professional Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or Doctor of Medicine degree from an accredited institution of higher education is required.
  • Completion of an internal medicine residency is required, with current board eligibility or board certification by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine or the American Board of Internal Medicine.
  • Candidates with recognized subspecialty training and current board eligibility or certification by the appropriate specialty board will also be considered.
  • Washington state licensure is required.
  • Current Drug Enforcement Administration certification is required.
  • Eligibility for local hospital appointment is required.
  • The role requires the ability to work in a team, collaborate with others, solve problems by analyzing issues and creating action plans, manage projects and people, prioritize work, self-direct workflow, and work with computer programs and databases.
Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned material throughout the four-year Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine curriculum in classroom, laboratory, and clinical-site settings.
  • Teach medical simulations involving standardized patients, robotic simulations, and telemedicine education.
  • Supervise or teach third- and fourth-year student clinical rotations.
  • Conduct research or other scholarly activity.
  • Provide College of Osteopathic Medicine or University service.
  • Participate in clinical practice as appropriate.
  • Continuously prepare and teach assigned courses.
  • Participate in admissions activities.
  • Provide student advisement and office hours.
  • Participate in Commencement and White Coat ceremonies.
  • Develop course syllabi.
  • Administer examinations.
  • Participate in assigned committees.
  • Pursue continued professional development.
  • Understand and follow department-specific accreditation standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of instructional technologies.
  • Experience with curricular and instructional design, and training or experience in educational theory or evaluation.
  • Experience with innovative teaching methods, including team-based learning, flipped classrooms, problem-based learning, distance learning, interactive large-group presentations, audience response systems, curriculum delivery systems such as Moodle, and examination-item writing for the United States Medical Licensing Examination or Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination.
  • Familiarity with point-of-care ultrasound.
  • Prior teaching experience in an academic setting.
  • Exceptional credentials in scholarly, professional, or individual achievement.
  • Extensive professional experience with an exemplary record of achievement.
