About the company

Unified Patents provides analytics and dispute-resolution tools for intellectual property through a membership model. It serves tech companies, law firms, and others involved in patent litigation with post-grant analytics, patent quality comparisons (APIX, CITX, BRIX), and PATROLL-based prior-art crowdsourcing. Its ISIX metric tracks law firm success at the PTAB and it offers free patent dispute data to aid decision-making and deter weak patents. By offering crowdsourced prior art and a broad toolkit, it helps clients reduce risk and costs in patent disputes and post-grant proceedings.

What believers are saying

  • September 18, 2026 PATROLL contests show active demand across MIMO, inverters, and networking patents.
  • Anaqua says Unified Patents serves 300-plus members, providing immediate cross-sell into IP management accounts.
  • August 4, 2026 deal gives Anaqua an AI-driven risk platform and unified litigation-prevention stack.

What critics are saying

  • Anaqua must integrate Unified Patents fast; stalled product overlap can freeze member renewals by 2027.
  • PATROLL depends on constant researcher participation; weak submissions reduce contest credibility and customer value.
  • Large members like AT&T, Verizon, and Qualcomm can exit after one disappointing litigation cycle.

What makes Unified Patents unique

  • Unified Patents monetizes deterrence, not filings: members fund attacks on weak patents and NPEs.
  • Its PATROLL crowdsourcing turns outside researchers into prior-art hunters, with cash prizes and Pearl.
  • Anaqua’s August 4, 2026 acquisition bundles Unified Patents’ litigation defense with IP management software.

$4,000 for CyboEnergy power inverters patents prior art.

$4,000 for CyboEnergy power inverters patents prior art. Unified Patents added two new PATROLL contests, each with a $2,000 cash prize, seeking prior art on the list below. The patents are owned and asserted by CyboEnergy, Inc., an NPE. The patents relate to smart and scalable power inverters. They have been asserted against Northern Electric Power Technology, Home Depot, Duracell, Yotta Energy, Deye Ess Technology, and others. The contests will expire on October 17, 2026. Please visit PATROLL for more information and to submit an entry for these contests. PATROLL researchers are required to use Pearl to generate claim charts. Submitted invalidity charts must address every limitation of the challenged claim. This may require using more than one prior art reference. Each PATROLL researcher can generate up to 30 invalidity claim charts per month using Pearl. These charts can be downloaded then submitted to PATROLL.

Anaqua acquires Unified Patents to combat rising IP litigation risk

Anaqua, a provider of intellectual property management technology, has acquired Unified Patents, which specialises in IP risk mitigation and intelligence solutions. Financial terms were not disclosed. The deal aims to address escalating IP litigation risks facing organisations. Since 2023, increased activity from non-practicing entities and a rise in standard-essential patent disputes have driven up licensing and litigation costs. Unified Patents operates a membership model serving over 300 members across technology sectors including artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and cybersecurity. The company monitors patent assertion activity, challenges weak patents, and negotiates royalty-free licences. Kevin Jakel, co-founder and CEO of Unified Patents, joins Anaqua as chief intellectual property strategist. Co-founder Shawn Ambwani becomes senior vice president and head of Unified Patents. The acquisition strengthens Anaqua's ability to provide IP management solutions combined with litigation prevention capabilities.
