About the Job

Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
  • At least 6 years of hardware design experience in displays, LED drivers, or embedded systems, including end-to-end ownership from schematic to mass production.
  • Hands-on microcontroller experience with board bring-up, bootloaders, peripheral drivers, hardware/firmware integration, and debugging with an oscilloscope, logic analyzer, and SWD/JTAG.
  • Knowledge of constant-current LED drivers, scan multiplexing, PWM/gray-scale generation, and timing closure for large LED matrices.
  • Power integrity and signal integrity fundamentals and power design skills, including synchronous buck converters, high-current layout, loop stability, and transient response.
  • Practical EMC/ESD design experience and a successful compliance history, including IEC 61000-4-2 contact ±8 kV and air ±15 kV or higher.
  • Proficiency with schematic/layout tools such as Altium or OrCAD, or similar, and versioned documentation such as BOMs, specifications, and ECNs.

Responsibilities

  • Define system architecture for multimedia panels and modules, including receiver/scan boards, hub interfaces, and inter-panel connectors.
  • Perform schematic capture and provide multilayer PCB layout guidance; drive placement and routing to ensure good routability and signal-integrity/power-integrity margins.
  • Select and integrate constant-current LED driver ICs; design row/column scan topologies, PWM/gray-scale timing, global brightness control, and refresh rates of at least 3,840 Hz.
  • Implement calibration hooks for per-panel uniformity, gamma/white balance, and mapping tables, and develop non-volatile storage strategies.
  • Design power systems covering 5–48 V inputs, buck/boost DC/DC conversion, high-current 5/12 V buses, inrush/OR-ing, current sensing, thermal derating, and OVP/OCP/OTP protections.
  • Harden boards and enclosures against EMC, ESD, and surge; design grounding, shielding, filtering, and panel-to-panel cabling to meet applicable standards.
  • Design high-speed and robust links as needed, including Gigabit Ethernet, LVDS, RS-485, isolated communications, and HUB-style panel interfaces.
  • Build test fixtures and factory programming/jig interfaces; author EVT/DVT plans, scripts, and acceptance criteria.
  • Drive failure analysis and root-cause analyses on field returns; collaborate with suppliers and contract manufacturers to resolve issues and reduce cost.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with LED video-wall ecosystems, including receiver/scanner cards, HUB interfaces, and calibration workflows.
  • Familiarity with LED driver families such as MBI, ICN, or Novatek, or similar, and large-array current/thermal budgeting.
  • Experience with PoE (802.3af/at/bt), isolated DC/DC, or high-power backplanes.
  • Experience with manufacturing-oriented design (DFM/DFT), fixture development, boundary-scan, and factory test scripting.
  • Cross-functional communication in English across PM/ID/ME/FW/PDM groups, and vendor management experience.
  • Camera-based color/brightness calibration experience and data pipelines for per-pixel or per-region corrections.
  • Experience hardening designs against ESD during handling, such as on-cell touch/guard-ring strategies and chassis-to-logic RC links.
