Requirements
  • Previous experience working with trucks and trailers is required.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • A valid driving record with no restrictions that would prevent driving-related duties is required.
  • The ability to lift 40–50 pounds is required.
  • Ability to operate a shunt truck is required for assigned duties.
  • Ability to understand issues and find solutions in a timely manner is required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment is required.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with general duties in the truck shop and yard.
  • Assist mechanics and shop staff with day-to-day truck and trailer maintenance and repair activities.
  • Operate shunt trucks to relocate trailers to designated areas within the yard as required.
  • Assist with loading, tarping, and unloading trailers on customer property.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of shunt trucks to ensure safety procedures are followed.
  • Coordinate with dispatch and yard personnel to organize loads and ensure efficient movement of trailers and containers.
  • Maintain accurate logs of shipments and deliveries.
  • Assist with reefer wash job duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Commercial Driver’s License is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of truck parts, equipment, and truck repairs.
  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation and Ministry of Transportation rules and regulations.
  • A mechanical background.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Effective time management skills.

Charger Logistics to deploy Aurora's second-generation driverless trucks on Dallas-Laredo route

Aurora Innovation announced a customer agreement with Charger Logistics to deploy second-generation driverless trucks on the Dallas-Laredo route. Charger Logistics will use Aurora's autonomous driving technology to add capacity and improve utilization on one of its busiest freight corridors. Charger Logistics is an asset-based transportation and logistics company providing truckload, warehousing, and cross-border services across North America. The company handles temperature-controlled food, pharmaceuticals, automotive, retail, and consumer products. Aurora's Vice President of Business Development, Zac Andreoni, said the new driverless truck fleet helps meet demand following last year's launch. Charger Logistics President Andy Khera stated autonomous trucking will enhance capacity, improve asset utilization, and strengthen service reliability for mission-critical freight on US corridors.
