Xsolla and Game8.co turn game guides into storefronts, connecting players and publishers to the global market.

Xsolla and Game8.co turn game guides into storefronts, connecting players and publishers to the global market. 3 mins read Web Shop Links Inside Game8.Co, The English-Language Edition Of Game8, Japan's Largest Game-Strategy Wiki, Brings Direct-To-Consumer Purchasing To The Moment Of Player Intent And Opens A Bridge For Publishers LOS ANGELES-BUSINESS WIRE- Xsolla, a global commerce company, today announced a partnership with Game8.co, Japan's largest video game strategy wiki, that places Xsolla-powered web shop links directly in Game8.co's guides. Players reading a walkthrough can go straight to a publisher's direct-to-consumer storefront when they decide to spend, and Game8.co receives a share of the revenue its guides generate. Graphic: Xsolla The guide page is where many players make that decision. Someone reading a boss strategy or a character tier list has already committed hours to the video game, yet the path from that page to a purchase is rarely built for them. Links lead to unfamiliar checkouts, in the wrong currency, with payment methods they don't use. A video game's most engaged audience is too often sent away at its most valuable moment. With Xsolla and Game8.co, the guide becomes the storefront: * The audience: Game8.co draws roughly 100 million monthly pageviews and about 14 million monthly unique users, with live walkthroughs for more than 130 titles updated daily. * The infrastructure: Xsolla has spent more than 21 years building the commerce infrastructure behind the video games industry and is trusted by more than 70% of the top 100 highest-grossing video games. As merchant of record across 200+ geographies, Xsolla handles payments, tax, and compliance, so Game8.co can stay focused on content and audience. * The bridge: More than 40 publishers already work with Xsolla and are covered on Game8.co. The partnership connects them to players through guides those players already trust, across Game8.co's global-language properties. Japanese publishers have world-class content but often no direct-to-consumer presence outside their home market. Game8.co's coverage and Xsolla's web shop infrastructure give those titles a path to players worldwide, in local currencies and with preferred payment methods, while the publisher keeps the direct relationship with the player. The partnership begins with a six-month pilot focused on titles on Game8.co, selected jointly from publishers that work with both companies. "Guides are where players decide a video game is worth their time, and until now, that decision and the purchase have lived in different places," said Eric Lee, Head of Partnerships, APAC at Xsolla. "With Game8.co, we're moving the storefront to where players already are, in their language and currency, while the direct relationship and the margin stay with the publisher." "Our readers come to Game8 for the best possible guidance on the games they love," said Shunsuke Sawamura, President and CEO of Game8 Inc. "This partnership extends that service to the moment they want to play more, and gives publishers a direct, trusted way to reach them." About Game8.co Its website for game walkthroughs officially launched in 2019, and is currently viewed by people all over the world. Medianet is always striving to improve the quality of its guides and offer comprehensive game information, keeping a tight user-first policy in mind! Mobile game developers accelerate D2C adoption - Omdia.

Mobile game developers accelerate D2C adoption - Omdia. Xsolla, Appcharge, Coda, FastSpring, and Tebex lead a closely contested market. #pressrelease September 23, 2026 Mobile game developers are accelerating their adoption of direct to consumer (D2C) platforms following a series of favorable regulatory changes that allow them to sell in-game items, virtual currency and other content directly to consumers without an intermediary. New Omdia research finds that this shift is creating new opportunities for specialist D2C platforms, with five vendors leading a closely contested market. By selling directly to players, developers can improve profit margins and build stronger relationships. The Omdia Market Radar: D2C Platforms for Mobile Games - 2026 evaluates leading D2C platforms, including in terms of their merchant of record (MoR) services, payments coverage, customizable storefront options, deep analytics, and engagement tooling. The Market Radar identifies Xsolla, Appcharge, Coda, FastSpring, and Tebex as market leaders, offering strong capabilities across a range of D2C functions. However, the gap between these providers and their challengers remains narrow, with Aghanim and Neon also offering robust services. As platforms rapidly add new tooling, providers will need to continue evolving their D2C offerings. Want more Light Reading stories in your Google search results? Join 62,000+ members.
