Quarterly growth sets the backdrop.
Tokyo Electron reported revenue of JPY 732.39 billion for fiscal 2027 first quarter ended June 30, 2026, operating income of JPY 211.41 billion and net income of JPY 164.34 billion. The standardized financial statements also show operating cash flow of JPY 118.75 billion for the same period.
That quarterly result provides the most useful operating context ahead of the next report. Revenue and operating income were both higher than the fiscal 2026 fourth-quarter figures of JPY 711.82 billion and JPY 205.64 billion, respectively, although the periods are not directly comparable because the company reports on a fiscal calendar.
What comes before October 30?
The chronology runs from fiscal 2027 first-quarter revenue of JPY 732.39 billion on June 30, 2026, to Tokyo Electron's United States manufacturing and engineering operation receiving Platinum status under the Responsible Business Alliance program on October 13, 2026, as reported by MarketScreener, and the October 16 Bernstein target of JPY 79,300.
The next scheduled date is October 30, 2026, for the fiscal 2027 second-quarter earnings release. Tokyo Electron's investor-relations calendar lists the release at 4:00 p.m. Tokyo time, with financial review materials at the same time, according to Tokyo Electron.

Dutch deep-tech company Fortaegis has raised $50 million to commercialise hardware-rooted security technology that uses physical variations in semiconductor chips as a foundation for device identity and encrypted communication. The Amsterdam-based firm targets deployment from 2027, working with roughly 25 organisations across defence, space, telecommunications and data centres.
Investors include Singapore's Serendipity Capital and Tokyo Electron's venture arm, alongside Dutch research organisation TNO. The technology derives security from microscopic manufacturing variations in silicon rather than storing cryptographic keys conventionally, addressing risks from AI systems requiring rapid machine-to-machine authentication and future quantum computers that could break current encryption.
Applications include autonomous drones, AI data centres and telecommunications infrastructure. Fortaegis is participating in a €1.07 million Dutch research project with ASML and Eindhoven University running until 2030, developing distributed trusted execution environments for autonomous AI systems.
Optimistic about the semiconductor market reaching $1.5 trillion, TEL increases investment in Taiwan and expands recruitment.
September 2, 2026, 12:40, China Times Instant, Liu Ming-geng.
Seiji Nakama, president of Tokyo Electron (TEL) Taiwan, a major global semiconductor equipment manufacturer, said on the 2nd that driven by the explosive demand for AI, the global semiconductor market is expected to reach $1.5 trillion this year. In order to fully support customers' capacity expansion and next-generation technology R&D, TEL will continue to increase investment in Taiwan, strengthen the functions of the Hsinchu R&D Center and the Tainan Operations Center, and expand recruitment of local professional engineers to deepen its footprint in Taiwan.
Nakama pointed out that AI is driving structural changes in the semiconductor market, with the market scale jumping to $1.5 trillion this year ahead of schedule. Among this, wafer fab equipment (WFE) is more than 50% driven by AI, and the market is estimated at $150 billion this year. TEL holds a 100% market share in EUV coating and developing equipment, its dry etch business revenue has exceeded 1 trillion yen, and advanced packaging revenue has grown by more than 70% year-on-year. The group is steadily advancing toward its mid-term financial target of exceeding 3 trillion yen in revenue in fiscal year 2027.
Regarding investment in Taiwan, Nakama frankly said that Taiwan is a vital core hub of the global semiconductor industry, with an irreplaceable position. TEL implements the "close to customers" strategy. The Taiwan Technology Center (TTCT) in Hsinchu continues to cooperate closely with customers to develop next-generation advanced processes. The Tainan Operations Center, launched in 2024, provides local maintenance and failure analysis support, and works with more than 80 supply chain partners across Taiwan to strengthen local technical service capabilities.
Regarding the future direction of Taiwan's semiconductor industry, Nakama called out that in addition to the continued evolution of front-end miniaturization and advanced packaging, AI smart manufacturing, silicon photonics, and AI robot technology will be key new fields for Taiwan to attract global attention.
Regarding recruitment and talent development, Nakama said that with the expansion of its bases in Taiwan, TEL actively cultivates professional talent through local training centers, and will continue to expand recruitment of technical and service engineers in the future to fully support customer needs. He concluded that Taiwan is a global semiconductor hub, and TEL will continue to deepen the three pillars of technology R&D, local supply chain, and talent cultivation, expand investment in Taiwan, and work with partners to seize the opportunities of AI growth.
Governor Abbott leads roundtable at TEL Texas training and R&D center in Austin.
Governor Greg Abbott toured the TEL Texas Technical Training and Research & Development Center in Austin and led a roundtable discussion with students and business leaders on Aug. 31. The event focused on how industry-led training programs are preparing Texans for high-demand careers, particularly in the semiconductor sector, and strengthening Texas' position as a leader in this field.
"Texas ranks number one in the United States for semiconductors, and we rank number one in the U.S. for workforce training," said Governor Abbott. "We need to be leading the way, not just in manufacturing those semiconductors, but in having the technicians who are going to be able to work on them every step of the way."
Abbott said TEL's efforts contribute to producing qualified technicians and researchers to bolster Texas' workforce competitiveness. The state is home to more than 51,000 semiconductor industry workers - a figure that has grown by 21% over five years. The Austin center is expected to train about 2,200 people annually using virtual and augmented reality tools designed for next-generation technician preparation. TEL has operated out of Austin for over three decades.
In 2023, Abbott signed the Texas CHIPS Act into law, creating both the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Consortium and Fund (TSIF) aimed at maintaining leadership in microchip research, design, and manufacturing. TEL received a TSIF grant exceeding $3 million for its Austin facility as part of this initiative. With support from this law alongside TEL's investment of more than $30 million, Texas continues expanding its domestic chip-designing workforce.
The office of Governor Greg Abbott promotes economic opportunity, education initiatives such as technical training centers like TEL's facility discussed here, public safety measures across Texas communities while upholding state values; it also advances cultural understanding through commissions supporting women's opportunities and services for people with disabilities, according to the official website. Additional photos from the event will be provided when available.
