Responsibilities
Promote high-quality service in caring for the children of YMCA members and participants.
Provide oversight and development of the child watch service to further the association’s mission.
Help establish and maintain a safe and healthful environment by keeping areas well-arranged, equipment and materials in good repair and safely stored, toys clean and sanitized, and participation areas clean.
Help provide materials and activities appropriate for children.
Support children’s social-emotional development and provide positive guidance.
Assist children with appropriate self-help activities, including dressing, toileting, handwashing, and eating.
Use appropriate group management techniques and encourage daily health routines such as handwashing.
Provide adequate supervision to ensure children’s safety and engage in activities with them.
Maintain contact with parents through verbal and written communication and posted information.
Communicate with families in a friendly, courteous, and respectful manner.
Perform other duties as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY: Hours needed: M-F 9a-11a, Sat 8a-10a, and M-Th 5:30pm-7:30pm
The Child Watch Attendant will promote the highest quality service in the care of the children of the YMCA’s members and participants. This position will also provide oversight and development of this service to further the association’s mission.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assists in establishing and maintaining a safe and healthful environment:
Assists in maintaining efficient, well-arranged areas.
Keeps equipment and materials in good repair and stored in a safe, orderly fashion.
Cleans and sanitizes toys weekly and other times as needed.
Helps with maintaining cleanliness of participation areas (washes tables before and after snack, sweeps floor, cleans up any spills promptly, etc.)
Assists in providing materials and activities appropriate for the children.
Assists in supporting children’s social-emotional development and providing positive guidance.
Assists children as needed and appropriate phases of self-help training (dressing, toileting, handwashing, eating, etc).
Utilizes appropriate group management techniques.
Encourages daily health routines with children such as hand washing.
Provides adequate supervision ensuring the safety of active children and engaging in those activities.
Other duties as assigned
