Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent, attendance at high school, enrollment in a GED preparation program, or enrollment in a Child Development Associate credential program, with the applicable requirement completed within two years of hire.
  • Knowledge of the important role that culture plays in child and family development.
  • Ability to work effectively with teams.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check, child protective services check, and sex offender check, and not appear on a state or federal suspension and disbarment list.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and tuberculosis screening and maintain current measles, mumps, and rubella and tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis immunizations.
  • Ability to perform frequent standing, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, and typing, and frequently lift and carry small children or materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to drive or access other transportation to attend meetings and trainings.
Responsibilities
  • Provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment for children ages three to five.
  • Develop and maintain respectful and trusting relationships with children.
  • Facilitate children's involvement in learning activities.
  • Support children during important transitions and routines.
  • Learn about and practice effective behavior management techniques.
  • Work collaboratively with the teaching team.
Desired Qualifications
  • One year of center-based teaching, early intervention, home visiting, or community-based work related to early childhood education.
  • Commitment to social justice and the Head Start mission.
