Community Partner of the Month Marcinah Carter, RN Health Coach; Councilwoman Ramos; and Lakisha Roberts, Community Outreach Coordinator Rooted in community care. GBMC has served the community for more than 60 years. It is Maryland's only independent community health system. GBMC was founded in 1965. The organization opened its Jonestown Primary Care office at the original Presbyterian Eye, Ear and Throat Charity Hospital site. Gilchrist is the serious illness and hospice care organization within the GBMC HealthCare system. It was established in 1994 and opened Gilchrist Center Baltimore in 2021. Advancing Health, healing, and hope. GBMC's mission is to provide high-quality medical care and service to each patient. It also educates clinicians and promotes community health. Gilchrist's mission is to provide compassionate care and support at every stage of serious illness. These missions grow stronger when health equity is centered.
