Busuu automatic renewal investigation.

Busuu automatic renewal investigation. Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating whether Busuu improperly renewed paid subscriptions without adequate notice, made subscriptions difficult to cancel, or continued charging consumers after cancellation. Busuu is a language-learning platform that offers paid Premium subscriptions. These subscriptions automatically renew unless consumers cancel before the applicable renewal date. Consumers have reported unexpected subscription renewals, particularly involving annual Premium plans. Some allege that they were charged for another year without receiving an adequate advance reminder and were subsequently denied refunds. Other consumers report difficulty cancelling through Busuu's website. In one August 2026 complaint, a consumer reported a $72.99 renewal charge and alleged that the cancellation button in the subscription-management section did not function properly. Another consumer reported receiving confirmation that a subscription had been cancelled but continued experiencing attempted charges, eventually requiring intervention through a credit-card issuer. These complaints raise questions about whether Busuu provides legally required renewal notices, offers an effective cancellation process, and stops billing consumers after cancellation. Migliaccio & Rathod is investigating whether Busuu's subscription practices violate state automatic renewal and consumer protection laws. Consumers report: * Unexpected annual Premium subscription renewals; * Renewal charges without adequate advance notice; * Difficulty finding or using the subscription cancellation option; * Cancellation buttons that allegedly do not work; * Continued charges or attempted charges after cancellation; or * Refund requests being denied following unexpected renewals. Potential claims may include: * Violations of state automatic renewal laws; * Failure to provide required renewal disclosures or notices; * Failure to provide an effective cancellation mechanism; * Unauthorized charges following cancellation; or * Unfair or deceptive subscription billing practices. Signs you may be affected: * You purchased a Busuu Premium subscription; * Your subscription renewed without adequate advance notice; * You were charged for another subscription period you did not intend to purchase; * You experienced problems cancelling through Busuu's website or app; * You continued receiving charges after cancelling; or * Busuu refused to refund an unexpected renewal charge. If you have encountered these issues, Migliaccio & Rathod LLP would like to hear from you. Busuu launches AI-powered coaching to combat second-language anxiety holding back 90% of professionals

Busuu, a Chegg service with over 120 million users, has launched an AI and human coaching platform to help professionals communicate confidently in second languages at work. The launch accompanies research showing that "second-language anxiety" prevents employees from contributing fully in workplace settings. A survey of more than 1,000 workplace learners across 64 countries found that 90% prepare before high-stakes conversations, yet only 24% use language-learning apps. More than half (55%) simplify their contributions when speaking a second language, whilst 25% stay silent despite having valuable input. The new platform combines personalised learning, AI coaching, and human tutoring with workplace skills courses covering presentations, negotiations, and client conversations. It aims to help learners perform under pressure rather than simply complete courses. The experience is currently in pilot and will be available from late October.
