Power Generator Technician
About the job
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience servicing commercial or industrial generator systems is required.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
- Ability to lift 50 or more pounds and work in field and outdoor conditions is required.
- Proficiency using diagnostic tools, multimeters, and load banks is required.
- Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities of a Level 1 Technician is required.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills are required.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and service manuals is required.
- Ability to participate in a rotating on-call schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, is required.
- Commitment to safety and quality workmanship is required.
- Perform preventive maintenance and repair services on standby generator systems.
- Independently diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate tools and technical documentation.
- Troubleshoot engine and generator system components, including batteries, starters, alternators, fuel systems, and control panels.
- Complete load bank testing and inspections to ensure generator performance.
- Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and parts usage documentation using company systems.
- Gain exposure to automatic transfer switches with supervision.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and customer site protocols.
- Provide support and guidance to Level 1 generator technicians as needed.
- Attend internal and external training as needed to further knowledge and experience.
- Respond to emergency service requests through the rotating on-call schedule and ensure timely resolution of customer issues.
- Technical training or certifications in diesel engines, generator systems, or electrical systems.
- Experience with Cummins, Caterpillar, Generac, Kohler, or MTU generator systems.

This acquisition enhances GenServe's presence in the Southeastern U.S. and will serve as a critical hub for operations and future growth in the region.
GenNx360 Capital Partners announced the sale of its portfolio company, GenServe, to Aurora Capital Partners. GenServe, a provider of back-up power solutions, saw significant growth under GenNx360's ownership since April 2018, including 12 add-on acquisitions and expansion to 16 locations across seven states. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed. GenServe's CEO, Fred Smagorinsky, credited the company's success to the hard work of the team and GenNx360's strategic guidance.
