Requirements
- A High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- A valid and current driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record are required, with at least two years of driving experience; the license, insurance, and registration must align with the state of permanent residence.
- At least two years of experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities or autism is required.
- At least one to two years of experience working with individuals with diverse behavioral or mental health diagnoses is required.
- Ability to work independently in a home or community setting without direct supervision.
- Ability to communicate, understand, and use technology such as an iPad, and apply comprehensive organizational skills.
- Ability to pass background checks and drug screening according to state requirements.
- Ability to understand, speak, read, and follow instructions in English.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
- Assist program participants with intellectual disabilities and diverse behavioral and mental health needs in their homes and communities.
- Act as an advocate, companion, and facilitator for program participants.
- Assist with household management, activities of daily living, and errands.
- Assist participants with attending appointments.
- Provide support for self-advocacy, communication, and self-expression.
- Work toward achieving participants’ desired goals and outcomes.
- Perform other support duties as necessary.
