Marriott and LG launch cloud-based guest room entertainment platform in 40-hotel pilot

Marriott International and LG Electronics have developed a cloud-based guest room entertainment platform to modernise in-room experiences across Marriott's participating hotels. The collaboration combines LG's hospitality technology with Marriott's enterprise infrastructure, enabling seamless device management and connected guest experiences. The platform launches initially as a pilot programme in 40 hotels across the United States and Canada, with plans for potential global expansion. It features linear TV, streaming services, over 40 OTT applications, and 250 channels. The system transforms televisions from standalone devices into integrated room management tools. The technology provides Marriott with centralised monitoring of device health and performance across properties. Hotel teams can track individual televisions, entire properties, or portfolios, enabling faster issue resolution and more efficient updates. Future plans include extending the platform into public and shared hotel spaces.

LG unveils ThinQ Claw AI chat agent and expanded smart home ecosystem at IFA 2026

LG Electronics unveiled the next evolution of its AI Home at IFA 2026, introducing ThinQ Claw, a text-chat-based AI agent that understands user intent and context to provide personalised support. The system analyses schedules, routines, and appliance usage to recommend actions and coordinate connected devices. ThinQ Claw interprets user updates contextually rather than as isolated events, managing tasks like preparing cooking appliances for guests or monitoring air quality before users arrive home. The AI agent works with daily services like calendars and remembers user preferences for increasingly personalised experiences over time. LG's AI Home ecosystem, powered by Homey—a smart home platform from Athom, acquired by LG in 2024—enables interoperability across brands and devices. The event showcased a Home Energy Management System demonstration connecting solar panels, batteries, and appliances to optimise energy use.

LG Electronics and BluePoint Partners invest in AI coding startup Machineflow

The funding follows the company's spin-off from Studio341, a corporate venture programme jointly operated by the two investors. Investment size and valuation were not disclosed. Machineflow develops enterprise AI coding agents that allow developers to design code logic through "logic graphs" and deploy multiple coding agents. The platform enables developers to delegate more tasks to AI whilst maintaining control over project architecture, with designs reusable across future projects. CEO Kim Bong-sang brings over 20 years of AI research experience from Samsung and LG Electronics, including involvement in establishing LG's AI research institute and research at the University of Toronto's machine learning lab. The company plans to expand into manufacturing and physical domains, leveraging accumulated development experience in industrial settings.

LG begins mass production of 5G telematics solution for European automaker

LG Electronics has begun mass production of its 5G R16-based smart telematics solution and started deliveries to a premium European automaker. This marks the solution's first deployment in a production vehicle in Europe. The system integrates a communications module and up to 12 antennas into a single unit, improving connectivity performance whilst reducing complexity, weight and cost. Traditional systems use separate components, but increasing connectivity demands have created space and wiring challenges, particularly for electric vehicles where weight affects range. Built on LG's proprietary Automotive Telematics Platform, developed over more than a decade, the solution enhances software reuse and development efficiency. LG aims to establish it as core communications infrastructure for software-defined vehicles, supporting over-the-air updates, vehicle-to-everything communication and autonomous-driving data transmission.
