Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • One year of experience is preferred.
  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant certification, Emergency Medical Technician-Basic certification, or Emergency Medical Technician-Intermediate certification is preferred.
  • Visual and hearing acuity are required.
  • The employee must be able to sit and reach frequently, and occasionally stand, walk, lift, carry, push, pull, bend, squat, and kneel.
  • The employee may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals or detergents, moving mechanical parts, potential electric shock, radiant energy, communicable diseases, and bloodborne pathogens.
Responsibilities
  • Provide continual surveillance and analysis of cardiac rhythms on the electrocardiographic central monitoring station, document findings, interpret electrocardiogram rhythms, and recognize significant electrocardiogram events.
  • Immediately escalate significant or life-threatening changes to a Registered Nurse using the appropriate electrocardiogram algorithm and communicate information accurately within the established timeframe.
  • Obtain rhythm strips according to hospital cardiac telemetry procedure, measure and analyze them, and document findings.
  • Operate, clean, and troubleshoot the telemetry monitoring system and account for all monitors at the end of each assigned shift.
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge patients and enter required information in the telemetry monitoring system.
  • Maintain equipment, supplies, unit stock, and equipment inventories.
  • Communicate and report appropriate information to nursing staff.
  • Maintain patient charts and perform assigned administrative and clerical duties related to patient care.
  • Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement programs.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and appropriately handle protected health information.
  • Follow the organization's legal compliance code of conduct and department policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and report safety concerns appropriately.
  • Provide patient advocacy within the healthcare system.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
