Asda signs £250m long-term supply deal with Len Wright Salads.

Asda signs £250m long-term supply deal with Len Wright Salads. 28th September 2026 Asda has agreed a £250m, 10-year supply partnership with British grower Len Wright Salads as the supermarket looks to strengthen its domestic fresh produce supply chain. The agreement, worth around £25m a year and running until 2036, extends a relationship between the two businesses that has lasted for more than 35 years. Lancashire-based Len Wright Salads is a family-owned business that has been growing salads since the 1960s. It supplies the majority of Asda's own-label prepared bagged salads, as well as selected stir-fry vegetable lines. Around 37 million bags of salad are distributed to Asda stores each year from a dedicated facility serving the retailer. Asda said the long-term contract would provide greater security of supply in the fresh produce category while giving Len Wright Salads greater certainty to invest in its workforce, facilities and British-grown production. Jenny Cannon, Senior Director for Produce at Asda, said: "Len Wright Salads has been a trusted partner for more than 35 years, and this long-term agreement reflects its shared commitment to British produce. "Long-term partnerships like this are a great example of how we're giving suppliers the confidence to invest for the future, helping to back British growers and build resilience across our supply chain, while ensuring a reliable supply of high-quality produce for our customers for years to come." Ian Torley, Director at Len Wright Salads, added: "Kamcity is incredibly proud to strengthen its long-standing partnership with Asda through this landmark 10-year agreement. Having supplied Asda for over 35 years, it is a fantastic recognition of the trust, quality and service at the heart of its relationship. "As a grower-owned British business, this long-term commitment gives us the confidence to continue investing in British growing, our people, facilities and technology. We're excited about the next chapter and what we can achieve together over the next 10 years." The agreement forms part of Asda's wider approach to British sourcing. In 2024, the retailer completed the rollout of LEAF Marque certification across its UK fresh produce growers, covering more than 500 farms. The certification requires participating growers to implement measures covering areas including biodiversity, water management, soil health and long-term landscape conservation.

Asda launches seven-strong own-label beer & cider range.

Asda launches seven-strong own-label beer & cider range. 25th September 2026 Asda has expanded its own-label alcohol offer with the launch of Asquith 1965, a seven-product beer and cider range developed with a number of UK and European breweries. The range covers lager, cider, stout, bitter and IPA styles, with prices starting at £1 per 440ml can when purchased as part of selected multipacks. It is available exclusively at Asda in stores and online from this week. Products include a 5% ABV 1965 Lager brewed with Damm at Eagle Brewery and a 6.8% Heritage Orchard Cider produced by Westons. Both are priced at £5 for four 440ml cans and £10 for 10 cans. Siren Craft Brew is producing the 4.1% Irish Nitro Stout, while Yorkshire-based Ossett Brewery is behind a 3.4% Session Best Bitter. Leeds-based Kirkstall Brewery has developed Break the Cycle, a 4.3% Session IPA. Asda has also partnered with Croatia's The Garden Brewery for two products: the 4.6% Keep Rolling Hazy IPA and 5.8% Stormy Maine Hazy NEIPA. The two beers are priced at £2.50 per 440ml can. Break the Cycle is also priced at £2.50 per can and is included in a four-for-three promotion, bringing the price of four cans to £7.50. The launch forms part of Asda's efforts to broaden its own-exclusive beer range beyond mainstream lager and provide customers with a wider selection of craft and traditional beer styles at different price points. Ryan Truswell, Beer and RTD Buying Manager at Asda, said: "With more beer drinkers looking beyond traditional lagers and exploring craft, heritage and flavour-led styles, Asquith gives its customers the chance to discover something new without the premium price tag. Rather than simply competing on price, Kamcity has developed Asquith to offer more beer for your money, while still delivering real quality and character. "We've worked with some fantastic breweries and brewing partners to create a range that has genuine provenance and great flavour behind every can. What's particularly exciting is the breadth of the collection, Asquith is our way of showing that great beer should be accessible to everyone."

Asda launches own-label beer and cider range to take on big brands.

Asda launches own-label beer and cider range to take on big brands. Asda has launched a range of own-label beers and ciders, produced by well-known craft producers, into all its stores that are very competitively priced and pitched up against the big branded players. Ryan Truswell, buying manager of cider, craft beer and RTD Cocktails at Asda spoke exclusively to The Retail Bulletin about the importance of this move for the company as it seeks to build its market share in the UK through innovative initiatives. The launch might also lead to a unique situation whereby retail and the on-trade (pubs and bars) work together. This would potentially involve some of the new range being stocked on draught in the pubs of the country's largest operator, Stonegate Group (with over 4,000 pubs), which is owned by the same private equity owner as Asda, TDR Capital. "It we are able to tie-in with Stonegate then it would be quite a big deal. Darren [Blackhurst, CCO of Asda] is on-board with this...if Asda is to regain its number two spot in UK grocery then you've got to think outside of the box. Think differently." says Truswell. The range has been launched under the new brand name of Asquith 1965 and comes in 440ml cans with the initial portfolio comprising: Break the Cycle session IPA (brewed by Kirkstall Brewery); Session Best Bitter (Ossett Brewery); 1965 Premium Lager (Damm Brewery); Stormy Maine New England IPA (Garden Brewery); Keep Rollin' hazy pale ale (Garden Brewery); Irish Nitro Stout (Siren Brewery); and Orchard Cider (Westons Cider). September 14, 2026 "We want to grow the beer category and challenge the big brands. The Asquith beers are priced affordably because there is no 'brand tax'. It's more and more difficult to make money on branded beers because you are paying for their [the major producers'] branding and marketing," he suggests. Each beer comes in a four-pack at £5 or a 10-pack at £10 apart from the Nitro Stout that is packaged in an eight-pack at £10 and have hit the whole of the Asda estate in the past few days. Truswell says the results have been positive so far and that the beers will be given a "big internal push" including a gondala end in all stores throughout Q4. "For an own-brand this is all daring and exciting," he says. The launch has involved Truswell and his team working closely with the producers. Simon Warren, off-trade business unit controller at Westons Cider, says: "We're pleased to have worked with Asda to create something exclusive for its customers. Bringing together the heritage of the Asquith name with our experience of crafting cider from fresh-pressed apples, we believe this is an exciting addition to the category and one that offers shoppers something a little different, which is quality cider at an own-label price point." He adds that that the Asquith cider complements the company's existing range by offering shoppers another premium choice in a can format, which provides value to shoppers. "By offering a premium-quality cider at own-label value, Asquith provides an accessible entry point for shoppers who don't currently buy cider. This will help recruit new consumers into the category, driving incremental sales," says Warren. There are likely to be further products launched under the Asquith range, according to Truswell, who says an obvious addition would be a no/low lager and possibly a beer and stout. Another likely candidate would be a fruit cider. Warren adds: "We've always valued working closely with our retail partners and are happy to explore new opportunities where we can bring our cider making expertise to create something that meets the needs of their customers."

Asda revives fuel discount for loyalty members as fuel prices soar.

Asda revives fuel discount for loyalty members as fuel prices soar. Loyalty members will now receive a discount of 5p per litre at 263 Asda fuel courts Asda has revived its fuel discount for members of its Rewards loyalty scheme. Rewards members will now receive a discount of 5p per litre at 263 Asda fuel courts, when they spend £40 or more in store. The coupon will automatically appear in their Rewards app. Asda expects the discount could save the average driver up to £3 when filing a typical 60-litre family car. Asda first introduced the temporary fuel offer in July, in a move that linked its Rewards app to its petrol fuel courts for the first time. The current offer will run between 23 September and 14 October, with shoppers able to redeem any coupon until 31 October. Explore related questions. "The weekly shop and the cost of filling up the car are two of the biggest everyday expenses for many households," said Asda chief customer officer and digital officer Rachel Eyre. "Customers told us how much they valued this Rewards offer when we ran it earlier this year. We're pleased to bring it back as part of our continued investment to help keep the cost of feeding and fuelling the family down." The price of petrol at the pump has risen from around 142p per litre to more than 190 per litre today, since the conflict began in February, according to the RAC. Diesel has risen by an average of 54p per litre during that time, to sit at around 196p per litre. Bringing back the discount would help at a time when "family budgets are under growing pressure". This week the supermarket's latest monthly income tracker showed that the average spending power of a UK family declined by 3.4% last month, due to the increase in food and cost of living prices. It is the latest in a series of new additions to Asda's Rewards loyalty scheme, as part of Eyre's strategy to bring shoppers back to Asda. In July, Asda launched 'hyper-personalised' missions which give customer discounts or coupons on the items or categories they buy the most. Latest. Partner features. No comments yet. New Asda rule from September 23 gets you £3 off a tank of petrol. The supermarket has explained how to secure your discount. News Neil Shaw Assistant Editor 10:42, 23 Sep 2026Updated 11:28, 23 Sep 2026 Asda is bringing back its fuel saving offer for Rewards users - slashing the price of filling up. Customers who spend £40 or more in a single in-store transaction between September 23 and October 14 will get a 5p-per-litre fuel coupon in their Asda Rewards app, redeemable on a single fuel purchase until October 31 at participating Asda filling sites. Article continues below The offer could save driver up to £3 each time they fill up a typical 60-litre family car and is available at 262 participating Asda and Asda Express sites offering Asda-branded fuel. Asda's monthly Income Tracker, which measures how much money households have left after paying taxes and essential bills, showed spending power growth slowed to 3.4% last month - the weakest level since March. Article continues below 138205441681 Rachel Eyre, Chief Customer Officer at Asda, said: "The weekly shop and the cost of filling up the car are two of the biggest everyday expenses for many households. Customers told us how much they valued this Rewards offer when we ran it earlier this year. We're pleased to bring it back as part of our continued investment to help keep the cost of feeding and fuelling the family down." The average price of diesel looked likely to hit a record this week. The RAC has said that with diesel prices just 4p off the record of 199.09p set on June 25, 2022, a new all-time high looks set to be hit. Article continues below 138205439166 Simon Williams, RAC head of policy, said that the new price high looks 'increasingly likely'. "Diesel has risen nearly 12p (11.72p) this month, with 5p being added in the last week alone", he said. "The average price of petrol has now topped 172p (172.02p) having gone up more than 10p so far in September and 3.6p in the last week. The last time it was this high was 17 August 2022." The cost to fill an average-sized family car with diesel now costs £107.43, or £29 more than on February 28. Filling an average petrol-powered car now costs £94.61, or £21.55 more than at the end of February when the conflict in Iran began. It comes amid wider volatility, with global energy prices set to push inflation higher by the end of the year, according to the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee. The rate of Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation rose to 3.1 per cent last month, largely driven by the aforementioned hike in petrol and diesel prices. Williams added: "This means the average household which buys fuel twice a month is having to find an £43 extra for petrol and £58 for diesel compared to the start of the conflict."
