Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • A minimum of 15+ years of successful work experience as a fundraising and/or business development professional with a track record of achievement raising gifts at the six-figure level is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience managing a budget is required.
  • Demonstrated success in identifying and securing fundraising relationships with corporate leaders is required.
  • Strong leadership experience and the ability to serve as a mentor and resource to the Development department are required.
  • Familiarity with successful proposal-writing techniques and processes is required.
  • The ability to take a business development approach to relationship development and securing new revenue streams, philanthropy, and partnerships for the College is required.
  • Excellent business writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills are required.
  • The ability to represent the College to corporations and their leadership is required.
  • Strong technological skills, including proficiency in common Microsoft Office programs, donor record systems, messaging applications, and Internet research, are required.
  • The ability to establish credibility and confidence with stakeholders is required.
  • The ability to work independently to solve problems, take on responsibility, take thoughtful risks, and effectively act on initiatives and solutions is required.
  • The ability to anticipate and effectively handle change, demonstrate willingness to try new skills and challenging tasks, and remain flexible in changing conditions is required.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in working with a diverse student body, faculty, staff, and other constituents is required.
  • Travel as necessary to meet with appropriate corporate prospects is required.
  • A valid unrestricted U.S. driver's license held for one year, an insurable or satisfactory driving record, successful completion of the College's vehicle training program within the first 60 days, and required safety training are required.
Responsibilities
  • Manage all aspects of corporate philanthropy and lead a relationship-based fundraising approach to secure external corporate funding for the College's priority initiatives.
  • Participate in strategic planning and update Development leadership on corporate activity.
  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit a portfolio of six- and seven-figure gifts.
  • Collaborate with senior-level stakeholders across the College to identify and secure corporate relationships with existing or potential vendors.
  • Help Finance and Procurement negotiate multi-pronged corporate contracts that maximize sponsorship and philanthropy.
  • Assume responsibility for corporate sponsorships for spotlight events and engagements.
  • Manage a diverse portfolio of 75-100 organizations capable of making gifts of $100,000 or greater, with an emphasis on identifying, pursuing, and closing six- and seven-figure gifts.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement strategies for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding corporate organizations, including securing immediate support and maximizing long-term relationship management.
  • Develop a corporate engagement strategy that celebrates philanthropic businesses and moves them through a cultivation pipeline.
  • Visit an average of 18 prospects per month at their offices, events, or through virtual meetings.
  • Interface with the business office on College contracts to ensure a philanthropic aspect is presented and considered.
  • Work with Executive Education colleagues to align and secure comprehensive relationships between corporate clients and the College.
  • Support and integrate with academic and campus partners on corporate initiatives.
  • Manage to metrics and provide periodic updates on pending and pre-proposal pipelines, money raised to date, and future funding pipelines.
  • Consult with Development colleagues, administrators, faculty, board members, and others to identify external funding priorities and grant prospects and report to senior leadership on fundraising goals and objectives.
  • Work with volunteers and senior leadership to achieve fundraising-plan goals and objectives.
  • Engage corporate representatives in events, site visits, and service projects to deepen commitment and secure long-term support.
  • Travel to meet corporate constituencies, cultivate relationships, and identify financial-support opportunities.
  • Represent Babson College and network with the Greater Boston business community to position the College as a nonprofit of choice.
  • Secure funding from global companies seeking to partner with Babson and manage those relationships to maintain a consistent support pipeline.
  • Manage relationships with business CEOs and leaders, deepen their personal interests in Babson College, and engage them meaningfully at the College.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as required.
  • Work onsite at least three days per week, with five onsite days during the first 90 days; occasional nights or weekends may be required.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Master's Degree is preferred.
  • Experience developing new revenue streams, corporate partnerships, and meaningful sponsorship opportunities is preferred.
  • Experience in higher education philanthropy is a plus.
