JOB SUMMARY
A Software Engineer I is responsible for analyzing user requirements, writing and testing code, and refining or rewriting code as needed. They collaborate with technical writers to develop operational documentation and help maintain existing systems by identifying and correcting software defects. Software Engineers I work closely with project managers, developers, business analysts, and other team members to deliver effective solutions. Ongoing professional development and staying current with emerging technologies are essential aspects of this role.
JOB DUTIES
- Assist in developing basic software components and features under supervision
- Deploy and author code for cloud infrastructure and software components on the Microsoft Azure platform, including:
- Azure Functions
- Service Bus
- Logic Apps
- Cosmos DB (NoSQL)
- Support front-end development by designing simple user interactions on web pages
- Contribute to developing basic back-end web applications.
- Assist in creating and maintaining simple databases (e.g., MSSQL)
- Help ensure application responsiveness and cross-platform optimization
- Participate in small projects or assist with components of larger efforts
- Learn and apply internal coding standards and development best practices
- Troubleshoot bugs and assist with resolving software issues under guidance
- Stay current on emerging technologies and programming languages relevant to the role
QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 0–2 years of related experience in software development
- Basic understanding of object-oriented programming (e.g., C#, Java, C++)
- Familiarity with fundamental front-end languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Exposure to front-end frameworks such as Angular is a plus
- Basic knowledge of server-side languages (e.g., JavaScript, Python, PHP, .NET)
- Understanding of database concepts; familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server preferred
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Demonstrated eagerness to learn, receive feedback, and grow professionally
- Ability to work flexible or extended hours as needed
