Requirements

  • Graduation from the DoD Biomedical Maintenance Course or an accredited civilian Biomedical Maintenance Course.
  • Graduation from the Planmeca digital dental course no later than 12 months after starting.
  • A minimum of 10 years of field experience, including at least four years as a Level II BMET, managing initial inspections, calibrations, diagnostics, maintenance, life cycle management, repair of medical equipment, equipment acquisition, and safety within OEM guidance and local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Ability to pass client background screening for security clearance.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure biomedical equipment complies with federal, state, and applicable regulatory requirements; implement quality control standards and maintain budget and vendor relationships.
  • Repair, install, maintain, calibrate, and inspect complex medical equipment, instrumentation, and systems.
  • Assign routine repairs, inspections, and installations to subordinates and observe their performance.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and electrical safety testing of clinical equipment, devices, and systems, and monitor preventive maintenance performed by outside vendors when applicable.
  • Review preventive maintenance outcomes and recommend improvements to department staff.
  • Perform complex technical inspections of new, used, or reconditioned military medical equipment.
  • Recommend new equipment and testing procedures.
  • Follow original equipment manufacturer guidance, Air Force instructions, regulations, and unit direction.
  • Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and calibration of biomedical equipment to ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and safety regulations.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions in medical devices, performing repairs or coordinating vendor service when required.
  • Maintain detailed service records documenting repairs, maintenance actions, and performance evaluations.
  • Assist with installation and configuration of new biomedical equipment, ensuring proper functionality.
  • Manage the life cycle, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of medical and non-medical support equipment, including oxygen generating systems, radiographic diagnostic equipment, and life support systems.
  • Determine associated equipment support items, supply support and provisioning requirements, and training requirements for scheduled services, maintenance, repairs, and calibration.
  • Prepare support documentation and purchase requisitions for parts.
