Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, such as Industrial, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, with at least 5 years of experience, or a Master's degree in Engineering, such as Industrial, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, with at least 4 years of experience.
  • Experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, or Lean Six Sigma.
  • Knowledge or experience with Good Manufacturing Practices and manufacturing in Medical Devices, Personal Care, Consumer Electronics, or Pharmaceutical industries.
  • Strong knowledge of Process and Industrial Engineering and Lean Six Sigma, including Design of Experiments and Root-Cause Analysis.
  • Experience with new product launches and project management.
  • Experience implementing Process FMEA, Control Plans, and error-proofing.
  • Experience creating cost models and performing feasibility analysis.
  • Working knowledge of project payback analysis and financial justification using return on investment.
  • Experience working in a technical role with cross-functional teams including Product Development, Analytical, Safety, Regulatory, Technology Assurance, and Quality Assurance, where applicable.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, analyze, and implement manufacturing processes in collaboration with Tier 1 suppliers.
  • Lead Tier 1 supplier teams to identify root causes and resolve manufacturing and quality issues.
  • Drive day-to-day manufacturing operations and new product introduction.
  • Support operational groups in cost-reduction projects for mass production and new product introduction.
  • Lead, implement, and validate Lean Six Sigma and Industry 4.0 maturity levels with Tier 1 suppliers or distribution centers.
  • Drive process improvements using Lean Six Sigma and Industry 4.0 tools, including line balancing, continuous-flow line layout, point of use, 5S, total productive maintenance, operations management systems, cross-training, critical-to-quality analysis, Process FMEA, automation, and digitization solutions.
  • Conduct Lean Six Sigma and Industry 4.0 audits to measure maturity levels and identify opportunities and gaps.
  • Work with internal and external teams to analyze and improve processes, focusing on root causes and eliminating recurrence.
  • Manage engineering changes, deviations, and the MFGO process by evaluating impact, risk, and material disposition.
  • Review and approve work instructions and validate that approved manufacturing processes and parameters are correctly implemented.
  • Ensure that the production bill of materials is accurate and aligned with Agile references.
  • Drive implementation of cost-reduction projects with cross-functional teams.
  • Manage the development, fabrication, validation, and management of assets, fixtures, and tools.
  • Review and update labor and manufacturing value-added models.
  • Make and implement recommendations to improve process capabilities for mass production and new product introduction.
  • Develop relationships with other engineering disciplines and functions to solve problems and implement innovative solutions.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams from the concept phase to drive Design for X principles.

Operating margin improved to 20.6%, up from 14.2% in the same quarter last year. Free cash flow margin rose to 12.7% from 10.1%. Following the announcement, Zebra's stock jumped 11.9%. Chief executive Bill Burns attributed the record results to broad-based demand and strong supplier relationships.
