  • At least 3 years of engineering experience developing and implementing manufacturing processes and equipment for production lines in high-volume, highly automated environments.
  • Experience deploying, qualifying, and validating new equipment and processes in a highly automated production environment, ideally including involvement in launching a large automated line.
  • Experience designing automated manufacturing equipment, with proficiency in computer-aided design (AutoCAD 2D, SolidWorks; CATIA is a plus), geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, design of experiments, and mechanical assembly principles such as press fits and fastener selection.
  • Working knowledge of automated equipment systems, including robotics, vision, material handling, conveyors, programmable logic controllers, and human-machine interfaces, and exposure to module line processes such as laser welding, adhesive dispensing and potting, vision inspection, profilometry, or electrical testing.
  • Familiarity with industrial engineering concepts including line balancing, overall equipment effectiveness, and capacity analysis.
  • Strong structured problem-solving skills.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Willingness to travel internationally to support vendor factory acceptance tests, factory launches, and global initiatives.
Responsibilities
  • Lead concept development, design, and build-out of new manufacturing lines and equipment, creating equipment and system concepts that balance product specifications, process capability, layout, cost, quality, and lead time.
  • Define and develop manufacturing processes for new battery products, and validate and optimize them from early prototype builds through full-volume production.
  • Develop equipment specifications, manage the request for quotation process, lead vendor selection and decision analysis, and manage external line builders and suppliers through delivery while running multiple projects in parallel.
  • Lead on-site equipment installation, commissioning, and qualification, ensuring validation and production start-up through factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, run-at-rate, overall equipment effectiveness and availability verification, and clearly defined transfer-of-ownership criteria.
  • Provide detailed design-for-manufacture assessments and critical reviews of product, process, and tooling designs; lead tooling and fixture design in computer-aided design, creating detailed drawings for computer numerical control and manual machining, welding, and sheet metal fabrication.
  • Coordinate equipment layout, material flow, utility requirements, and facility readiness to support successful line installation and start-up.
  • Define and achieve overall equipment effectiveness, throughput, and cycle-time targets, and continuously improve existing equipment and processes to raise yield, capacity, and cost efficiency.
  • Create and maintain process sheets, work instructions, maintenance instructions, manufacturing bills of materials, and training documentation to transfer ownership to Production and Maintenance after start of production.
  • Develop business cases and return-on-investment studies to justify projects to leadership.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with battery systems, modules, packs, energy products, or electromechanical assemblies is strongly preferred; adjacent experience in electric-vehicle powertrain, automotive, or electronics manufacturing is also welcomed.
  • Dutch language proficiency is a plus.
  • Experience launching a large automated line is ideal.

About the company

Tesla makes electric cars and batteries that store power for homes and utilities, and it develops self-driving software and humanoid robots. In 2023, its Model Y became the first electric vehicle to rank as the world's best-selling car. Buyers order the Model 3 sedan, Model Y SUV, or Cybertruck pickup directly from Tesla instead of through dealers, and they charge on its Supercharger fast-charging network. It also sells Megapack and Powerwall batteries, runs a robotaxi service, and charges drivers a monthly fee for self-driving software that still needs their supervision. Tesla was founded in 2003, with Elon Musk as its lead early investor and a recognized co-founder, and it is based in Austin, Texas.

What believers are saying

  • Sales are growing again: revenue rose 26% to $28.2 billion in the June 2026 quarter, after falling 3% in 2025.
  • Software adds income beyond cars: paid users of its supervised self-driving feature rose 56% to 1.48 million by June 2026.
  • Hiring is back: Tesla's headcount grew 7% to 134,785 by December 2025, after layoffs shrank it 11% in 2024.

What critics are saying

  • Growth isn't reaching profit: operating profit fell 57% to $398 million in the June 2026 quarter, a 1.4% margin.
  • Alphabet's Waymo is far ahead in robotaxis: Texas records in May 2026 listed 577 Waymo vehicles to Tesla's 42.
  • Stock grants have lost value: Tesla shares fell 17% in 2026 through October 8, after a December 2025 record.

What makes Tesla unique

  • Energy storage punches above its weight: Tesla's energy unit made 13% of 2025 sales but 22% of gross profit.
  • Tesla set the charging standard: Ford, GM and all major EV sellers in North America adopted its plug by 2024.
  • Robots are written into Musk's pay: his 2025 award sets goals of 1 million humanoid robots and 1 million robotaxis.

Musk admits he has "no idea" how to make microchips, plans $15B Terafab factory anyway

Elon Musk plans to build a semiconductor factory called Terafab in Texas, though he admits he has "no idea how to make microchips." He told customers and investors at the X Takeover event on Saturday, "we'll figure it out." The project involves Tesla and SpaceX, with Intel taking part. It calls for an initial investment of more than $15 billion and is expected to create 3,000 jobs. Musk believes his companies can eventually outperform chipmakers such as TSMC, Samsung, and Intel, though he said it could take several years. He plans to start with conventional equipment and modify it to speed up production. He called chipmaking "one of the hardest things to do in the world.

Humanoid robots could be a $5T market by 2050: Micron, Tesla and Alphabet poised to win

Morgan Stanley said last year that humanoid robots could become a $5 trillion market by 2050. The article names Micron, Tesla, and Alphabet as stocks that could benefit. Micron makes memory chips that robots need for AI inference and sensor processing. Its revenue rose 379% year over year in its fiscal 2026 fourth quarter, and it cites humanoid robots as a driver of future memory demand. Tesla sees its Optimus robots as its key source of value. Chief executive officer Elon Musk believes they can make Tesla a $25 trillion company; revenue rose 26% year over year in the second quarter. Alphabet offers cloud services, its Gemini AI model, and its own AI chips. Its Waymo unit delivers more than 500,000 paid robotaxi rides a week.

Tesla launches first Megacharger site with Pilot and joins Solana tokenised stock trading

Tesla has opened its first Megacharger site for heavy-duty electric trucks, in partnership with Pilot. The site, in Ellabell, targets freight carriers on major US trucking corridors. Each stall delivers up to 1.2 megawatts and can recover 60% charge in 30 minutes. Tesla plans further sites in California, Texas, Nevada, Georgia, and Indiana. Separately, Tesla stock is among the first US equities tokenised for blockchain trading through Securitize on the Solana network. Investors will watch whether Megachargers spread beyond Ellabell and turn into a usable freight network. An analysis cited in the article puts Tesla's fair value at $396.

Tesla to show Cybercab robotaxi in Paris on October 12 as stock trades near $378

Tesla will show its Cybercab robotaxi at the Paris Motor Show on October 12, giving European audiences their first look at the vehicle. The Cybercab has no steering wheel or pedals and is designed to run without a driver. Tesla has indicated a European rollout could come as early as 2027. Tesla shares were down about 16% in 2026 as of October 7, closing near $377.8. The stock trades at about 343 times trailing earnings. Second-quarter revenue rose 26% to $28.24 billion, but net income fell 5% to $1.11 billion. Capital expenditure is expected to exceed $25 billion this year. European approval for a vehicle without traditional driving controls could take time.
