About the job

Requirements
  • Demonstrated engineering management experience, including leading and developing engineers, making prioritization and performance decisions, hiring, and delivering through a team.
  • Experience building and operating distributed systems or reliability platforms, with the ability to reason across deployment behavior, Kubernetes, telemetry, service dependencies, and recovery mechanisms.
  • Experience leading consequential migrations or incidents and using measurement to diagnose reliability or performance problems and validate fixes under realistic conditions.
  • Ability to build platform capabilities adopted by other teams, lead hands-on engagements without absorbing every service's operations, and balance reliability, performance, engineering effort, and cost.
Responsibilities
  • Lead Site Reliability Engineering across observability, incident management, load testing, performance engineering, cloud cost and capacity, and rollout infrastructure.
  • Build and operate metrics, logs, traces, and alerting capabilities; help teams establish meaningful service-level objectives and use production telemetry to diagnose problems and verify improvements.
  • Own incident tooling and practices, coordinate cross-team response, and convert incident reviews into engineering improvements that reduce recovery time and repeat failures.
  • Build and maintain load and failure testing capabilities; validate critical paths under expected demand, quantify headroom, and test recovery and production readiness with service owners.
  • Lead performance engagements with internal teams on service-level objectives and end-to-end performance; use profiling, telemetry, and load tests to identify bottlenecks and deliver improvements with service owners.
  • Review designs and production changes, debug difficult failure modes, and use AI coding tools, including Replit, to prototype and automate while rigorously reviewing and verifying AI-generated changes.
  • Coach engineers, develop technical leaders, manage performance, hire against agreed needs, and build distributed collaboration, mentoring, and backup coverage.
  • Track rollout safety, recovery time, repeat incidents, critical-path latency and throughput, test coverage, and improvements from cost and capacity analysis; agree success measures and continuing ownership with partner teams.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with GitOps or progressive-delivery platforms such as Harness, ArgoCD, or Kargo.
  • Experience with observability, profiling, load-testing, and failure-testing systems, including OpenTelemetry or comparable tooling.
  • Experience with cloud cost attribution, capacity planning, and provider coordination, particularly on Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience growing distributed teams and using AI tools to increase engineering output while preserving production safeguards.

About the company

Replit is a cloud-based platform for software development and deployment that lets users write, run, and share code directly in a web browser, using an online editor and IDE with real-time collaboration and project management. It runs code in the browser or the cloud and provides tools for writing, executing, and debugging, along with AI-powered coding assistance across many programming languages. Everything operates in the browser with built-in collaboration and learning features, reducing local setup and enabling teams and learners to work together. Its goal is to make coding and deploying software easier and more accessible for students, freelancers, and enterprises through a shared browser-based platform.

Replit acquires Atta to bring AI business analysis in-app

Replit has acquired AI analytics startup Atta to enable users to perform business analysis and charting directly within its chat interface without writing SQL. The deal, announced on 25 September, brings Atta's data visualisation technology into Replit's platform. Co-founders Omar Shaik and Amine Ben Khalifa have joined the company. Financial terms were not disclosed. The integration is live through Replit Agent, allowing users to upload datasets, ask questions in plain language, and receive interactive charts. The system automatically handles analysis and selects appropriate visualisations based on queries. This expands Replit's capabilities beyond software development into business data analysis, aiming to reduce reliance on specialist analytics workflows and streamline decision-making for lean teams.

US AI coding startup Replit to hire 100 staff in London, mocks Silicon Valley 'monoculture

US AI coding startup Replit has opened its first overseas office in London, with plans to grow its team from 20 to around 100 staff by early next year. The San Francisco-based company joins other US tech firms expanding in London's King's Cross, including OpenAI and Anthropic. CEO Amjad Masad praised London's diversity compared to Silicon Valley's "monoculture", noting the capital offers exposure to artists, finance professionals and filmmakers alongside tech workers. London mayor Sadiq Khan attended the launch event. Replit specialises in AI-assisted coding tools and claims over 60 million users globally, including clients at 85 per cent of Fortune 500 companies. The firm raised $400 million in March at a $9 billion valuation, with backers including Databricks Ventures and Y Combinator.
