TNS expands Android terminal platform with Bring Your Own App.

TNS expands Android terminal platform with Bring Your Own App. * Payments * 29.09.2026 11:07 am Transaction Network Services (TNS) has unveiled its new Bring Your Own App (BYOA) capability. BYOA enables operators to create and deploy their own customer-facing applications on TNS's Android-based unattended payment terminals without having to manage the complexity of payment processing, compliance and certification. Demand for customized payment experiences has grown in recent years and payment operators are looking for ways to innovate without taking on the complexity of payment application development, PCI compliance requirements, certifications, security obligations, and ongoing maintenance. TNS's BYOA removes that trade-off by enabling operators to develop and deploy their own Android applications on TNS-supported unattended, retail and fuel payment terminals while TNS manages payment processing, PCI compliance requirements, payment and P2PE certifications, and the supporting payment infrastructure. Using a flexible integrated model, BYOA provides a customized payment experience by: * Allowing the operator's Android application to call the TNS payment application on the terminal through a defined payments API to initiate the transaction * TNS handling card capture, PIN collection, encryption, EMV processing and payment certification * Each operator application is signed and approved by TNS before it can run on the terminal This model provides developers with a clean integration point to innovate on the customer experience without inheriting the usual security and compliance burden. "Operators have historically had to choose between innovating on customer experience or taking on the complexity of payments," said David Hore, Senior Director, Payments Product Portfolio, TNS Payments Market. "BYOA is designed to remove that compromise. Our customers can build the applications that enhance their business' unique selling proposition (USP), while we manage the payments, compliance and certification that sit behind every transaction. That's the role TNS plays - providing a managed service that allows our customers to focus on their business." Beyond customer experience innovation, BYOA also simplifies ongoing payment operations. Its decoupled architecture separates acquirer keys from terminal keys, enabling operators to switch acquirers or revise rates without updating physical terminals - providing greater flexibility while reducing operational burden. "This is exactly the kind of flexibility unattended operators need to meet the demands of the modern payments landscape," said Michael Johnson, Global Managing Director, Payments Market Business, TNS. "BYOA gives customers the freedom to create differentiated experiences that reflect their brand and their customers' needs, backed by a payments foundation they can trust."

TNS to tackle cross-channel fraud and Customer Trust in two sessions at CFCA Fall Educational 2026.

TNS to tackle cross-channel fraud and Customer Trust in two sessions at CFCA Fall Educational 2026. Communications, Brand Trust, Call Authentication, Fraud, Spoof Protection From Turning Spoof Protection Into a Customer Trust Strategy to Breaking Down Information-Sharing Silos, TNS Speakers Show How Collaboration Strengthens Trust Across the Communications Ecosystem Communications fraud rarely stays in one lane. Bad actors move across voice, messaging, email, applications and social media - spoofing financial institutions' phone numbers to impersonate them and defraud customers, and exploiting the fact that the intelligence needed to stop them is often scattered across platforms, companies, industries, countries and continents. The result is a widening trust gap where consumers have grown wary of even legitimate outreach from the businesses they rely on. That erosion of trust has consequences beyond the initial fraud attempt as customers may ignore legitimate fraud alerts, account-security notifications, payment reminders, and other time-sensitive communications. To help the industry confront these growing and increasingly interconnected threats, Transaction Network Services (TNS), a global leader in trusted communications, will participate in two sessions at the CFCA Fall Educational 2026, September 29 - October 1, in Minneapolis, Minn., an event focused on fraud affecting businesses and consumers in telecoms and banking. Together, the sessions will show how real-world deployment and stronger cross-industry collaboration can help restore trust across every channel of communications. In the panel "Breaking the Silos: Share More. Know More. Stop More.," on Tuesday, September 29 at 9:30 - 10:15 a.m. CT, TNS's Allyson Blevins, Head of Regulatory & Industry Relations, joins fellow industry leaders to discuss how stronger information sharing across companies, channels and borders can close the gaps fraudsters exploit and help protect legitimate communications across the ecosystem. In the session, "How a Major Regional Bank Turned Spoof Protection Into a Customer Trust Strategy," slated for Tuesday, September 29 at 3:30 - 4:00 p.m. CT, TNS Director Andrew Geisen will share a real-world deployment of Spoof Protection at a regional bank, which will include the use case, the measurable outcomes and the lessons learned. The session will show how verifying authentic calls, defending brand identity and safeguarding call reputation can restore consumer confidence in the voice channel and deliver the payoff of higher answer rates. "Fraud doesn't respect the lines we draw between departments, companies or industries, and our response can't either," said Michael O'Brien, Executive Vice President, Product Management, Communications Market at TNS. "For example, when a business's own number gets spoofed, the damage doesn't stop at the scam. It can get flagged as spam, blocked by analytics providers, and legitimate calls start going unanswered. That turns a fraud incident into a customer engagement crisis, and the way to stop it is to close the gaps in how we share information across companies and industries alike. That's what we're focused on at TNS: helping stop spoofing before it starts and closing those gaps, so legitimate communications get the trust they deserve." As a leading provider of mission-critical communications and fraud-prevention solutions, TNS helps financial institutions rethink how they secure every customer interaction, combining caller authentication and phone number reputation intelligence to stop fraud with branded calling technology that makes legitimate calls more recognizable.
