About the Job

Requirements

  • A bachelor's or advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or another technical discipline is required.
  • 5–10 years of product experience, including meaningful experience in financial infrastructure rather than only customer-facing products.
  • Demonstrated ownership of at least one of the following: ledgers, general ledgers, or balance and transaction systems; payments processing, orchestration, or money movement such as ACH, card networks, transfers, settlement, or local equivalents; card issuing or card program management; deposit, wallet, or account platforms; lending origination or loan servicing platforms; or product work at a processor, banking-as-a-service provider, or core banking vendor.
  • Comfort with double-entry accounting concepts in software, including debits and credits, sub-ledgers, accruals, and reconciliation, or willingness to learn them quickly.
  • Deep technical understanding of APIs, event-driven architecture, idempotency, distributed-system failure modes, batch versus real-time processing, and data flows.
  • Strong SQL skills and ability to query and interpret data independently.
  • Experience working directly with Compliance, Legal, Finance, or Treasury stakeholders, not only Engineering and Design.
  • Ability to work in ambiguity and make sound, documented decisions with incomplete information.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for engineering standups, Finance reviews, and executive discussions.
  • Hands-on familiarity with AI tools, data models, or generative AI applications.

Responsibilities

  • Own the banking platform roadmap and define and sequence platform work to support accounts, deposits, cards, and lending on a single ledger and account model.
  • Evaluate core banking platforms and processors, conduct vendor diligence, model cost and time-to-market, and help leadership decide whether to extend existing systems or integrate a third party.
  • Work with Engineering and Finance to shape account hierarchies, sub-ledgers, chart-of-accounts mapping, posting rules, holds, interest and fee accrual, and general ledger integration.
  • Own product requirements for transfers, ACH, card issuing and network settlement, real-time payment rails, returns and reversals, exception handling, cutoff windows, and settlement reconciliation.
  • Ensure the platform produces reporting, traceability, and controls needed by Finance, audit, and regulators, including reconciliation breaks, balance attestation, and complete transaction history.
  • Work with Compliance and Legal to translate regulatory requirements into platform capabilities, including screening hooks, onboarding data, error resolution, disclosures and statements, and reporting.
  • Own data mapping, parallel-run strategy, validation criteria, rollback plans, and phased cutover for migrations in scope.
  • Write detailed specifications, API contracts, event schemas, data models, user stories, and end-to-end release plans.
  • Write SQL, define platform KPIs such as posting latency, reconciliation break rate, settlement accuracy, and failure rates, and monitor them.
  • Anticipate technical risks, edge cases, race conditions, and dependencies before they become incidents.
  • Deliver against evolving regulatory and business timelines despite incomplete information.

Desired Qualifications

  • Direct experience with a core banking platform, in-house or vendor, such as Thought Machine, Mambu, 10x, Finxact, Temenos, Technisys, Galileo, Pismo, or similar.
  • Experience with a core migration, conversion, or major ledger replacement.
  • Experience at a chartered or licensed financial institution, or supporting a charter, banking license, or deposit insurance application.
  • Familiarity with consumer finance regulation, including US regulations such as Reg E, Reg DD, Reg CC, Reg Z, TILA, FCRA, and BSA/AML, or equivalent local regimes.
  • Background in consumer credit or buy now, pay later (BNPL), card products, or bank-fintech sponsorship programs.
  • Experience with third-party risk management and vendor oversight in a regulated environment.
