Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree is required in advising, higher education, human resources, program administration, or a related field.
  • Experience coaching and advising students.
  • Knowledge of university degree programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to solve problems while navigating individual and complex academic requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, student database software, and other educational technology tools.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct degree reviews and junior-level audits to identify completed and outstanding course requirements.
  • Assign and adjust academic faculty advisors as requested by programs and students.
  • Serve as the primary advising contact for readmitted, study-away, and inactive students who have credits remaining to complete.
  • Advise undeclared, transfer, business, and other assigned students on degree planning and time to completion.
  • Collaborate with academic advisors, faculty, and program coordinators regarding student progress, academic plans, requirements, and degree alternatives.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to off-track students regarding course adjustments, substitutions, or retakes.
  • Monitor degree program changes.
  • Help stop-out students return and complete their degrees.
  • Assist students in creating personalized academic plans and completing required student requests.
  • Advise study-abroad students on eligibility, course selection, and credit transfer.
  • Advise incoming transfer students and advocate for their degree planning and completion progress.
  • Receive and evaluate transcripts to ensure proper credit awards.
  • Guide students through course selection, catalog course sequences, pending credit awards, and prerequisites.
  • Educate students on DegreeWorks, myPlymouth, the Registration portal, Navigate, the catalog, and other academic tools and platforms.
  • Collaborate with academic programs on suggestions and overrides, especially for block transfer, degree planning, and course-sequence progression.
  • Advise undeclared and business students on college transition, registration, classes, major and minor exploration, and advising tools and platforms.
  • Oversee advisor assignments and adjustments for all undergraduate students.
  • Help reinstate students who were dropped for non-payment.
  • Provide open advising for add/drop and under-enrolled students before each semester.
  • Support students who do not meet Satisfactory Academic Progress and assist with appeals and plans for the following three semesters.
  • Serve as the advising representative for the Academic Affairs Committee.
  • Assist in creating degree plans for the Workday transition.
  • Represent ACAC at Accepted Student Days, Open Houses, and other campus events.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree with at least two years of experience in student advising, higher education, human resources, program administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in a college or university academic advising or career development office.
  • Evidence of an innovative and research-based mindset.
