Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • A valid Tennessee teaching license and endorsement(s) in the hired content area, a valid teaching license from a state offering reciprocity with Tennessee, or enrollment in a certification program with eligibility for a recommendation of licensure by the program or district is required.
  • Eligibility for a Tennessee teaching license is required.
  • Applicants must be able to work with a variety of learning abilities, including students with low skill levels, in a heterogeneously grouped classroom setting.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, are required.
Responsibilities
  • Introduce Kindergarten students to concepts and help them develop mastery as measured through assessments administered consistently throughout the year.
  • Present skills and concepts in a variety of ways that demonstrate thorough understanding and execution of the content.
  • Work closely with other teachers to ensure cross-curricular and thematic alignment of the curriculum.
  • Model the network's core values of respect, responsibility, integrity, community, and excellence for students, families, and colleagues.
  • Uphold a school culture of high academic and behavioral expectations through continuous reflection, flexibility, and growth.
  • Foster students' positive view of self and support their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development.
  • Communicate effectively and maintain strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Create and maintain a positive classroom culture and community.
  • Reinforce school-wide rules and expectations in the classroom, including lesson planning, curriculum development, assignment creation, and other curricular materials.
  • Use detailed analysis of student performance data to inform best practices.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law and administrative and district regulations.
  • Work an extended school day to allow for collaboration, professional development, and communication with parents and other staff members.
  • Work closely with the Head of School, Assistant Head of School, and Dean of Students to develop and implement strategies for all students to reach success.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by school-based administrators.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Master's Degree is strongly preferred.
  • Two to four years of urban teaching and educational leadership experience is preferred.
