Requirements
  • At least 8 years of experience producing news video journalism for digital or broadcast news.
  • A strong portfolio, preferably featuring inventive short-form video.
  • High-level editorial judgment and strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and lead production on complicated projects.
  • Broad knowledge of current events and news.
  • Deep curiosity about video habits, users, and platforms.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage field crews and hire and manage freelancers when necessary.
  • Hands-on production experience, including editing, shooting, and field production.
  • Ability to edit quickly and accurately with Adobe Premiere.
Responsibilities
  • Write, produce, edit, and publish videos with hybrid correspondents in close partnership with regional editors.
  • Devise new approaches to digital video storytelling both on and off platform.
  • Work with correspondents to create a playbook for covering a region or beat in video.
  • Collaborate closely with International editors, correspondents, and video colleagues.
  • Guide the work of cinematographers, editors, and other collaborators.
  • Support and understand journalistic independence and demonstrate a strong commitment to seeking the truth and helping people understand the world.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience covering international news.
  • Foreign language fluency.
  • Strong experience with archival research, including sourcing and clearing user-generated video content.
  • Fluency with animation and motion graphics as an integral part of the script-writing process.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and adapt to change within an unpredictable news and production environment.
  • Strong time-management skills and the ability to juggle multiple assignments at a time.
  • A record of deploying teams of journalists in difficult field assignments.
  • High creative standards and a drive to push work to its best possible form.
