Requirements
  • A high school diploma or educational equivalent is required.
  • Applicants must complete a criminal background check, fingerprinting, and any additional required clearances.
  • A tuberculosis test or acceptable proof of negative tuberculosis test results is required for most positions.
  • A valid driver's license may be required based on the position and location.
  • Applicants must hold or obtain Registered Behavior Technician certification within one year of appointment, or qualify as a Licensed Psych Technician or Qualified Behavior Modification Professional for California assignments.
  • Applicants must have basic written and verbal communication skills.
  • Applicants must have basic computer skills, including email and use of Workday and related systems.
  • Applicants must have interpersonal and problem-solving skills and willingness to take initiative.
  • Applicants must be able to meet the essential physical demands of the position, including walking, sitting, standing, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling objects and controls, assisting with lifting or moving individuals, and lifting or moving up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Applicants must have at least six months of work or life experience with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities or behavioral challenges for New Jersey Behavioral Health Stabilization Homes.
  • A valid New Jersey driver's license with no more than five points is required for New Jersey Behavioral Health Stabilization Homes.
  • New Jersey State drug test screening is mandatory.
  • Applicants must complete all required training, recertification, licensing, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Applicants must comply with Federal, State, Local, and other relevant regulatory agency requirements, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
  • Applicants must complete and maintain Behavior Analyst Certification Board requirements for Registered Behavior Technician or Licensed Psych Technician certification and other required recertifications and training.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise, protect, and care for the individual at all times, maintain house rules, facilitate fire-safety learning and training, and identify and escalate signs of potential harm to self or others.
  • Provide support in a variety of settings according to each person's individualized service and behavior support plans, using support skills for people with moderate to complex needs.
  • Provide appropriate supervision, manage crisis situations, and follow applicable policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure health, wellness, and safety.
  • Implement plans of protective oversight, Individual Behavior Support Plans, and Individualized Program Plans.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment, including facility upkeep, safe handling procedures, COVID mitigation, and infection-control protocols.
  • Help individuals maximize their strengths, interests, and abilities, uphold personal rights, provide emotional support, and build positive relationships.
  • Support people in meeting personal quality-of-life goals, use person-first communication, encourage socializing, and facilitate activities that build community connections.
  • Implement person-centered plans and provide authorized personal care, assistance with activities of daily living, medication administration support, skill development, advocacy, communication support, dispute resolution, ethical decision-making support, meal planning and preparation, transportation and escort services, and assistance with purchases and safeguarding funds.
  • Complete required training and apply the skills needed to comply with YAI policies and licensing regulations.
  • Review communication logs daily and record events, progress notes, services, and other information in an electronic health record.
  • Complete required paperwork and documentation accurately and on time for compliance and billing, including notifications, incident reports, file updates, maintenance requests, phone calls, incident tracking, and evening and weekend reports.
  • Maintain a therapeutic environment using Personal Outcome Measures, Person-Centered Thinking, Informed Decision Making, and Trauma-Informed Approaches.
  • Participate as a member of the support team, provide feedback, communicate programmatic needs, and use a solution-oriented approach during conflicts.
  • Consult with program leadership, clinical staff, and direct support staff to support quality care and participate actively in team meetings.
  • Use foundational and progressive teaching skills, including EMOE, task analysis, essential skills, supports, and modifications.
  • Demonstrate and model DSP/RBT skills using a person-centered and trauma-informed approach.
  • Under appropriate supervision, participate in treatment-plan development.
  • Develop and maintain specialized clinical knowledge for person-specific needs, including adult support, challenging behaviors, autism spectrum disorders, and complex medical needs.
  • Implement Behavior Support Plans.
  • Collect, record, and summarize data on observable individual behavior.
  • Observe and report behavioral changes and other signs and symptoms to a supervisor.
  • Communicate with authorized representatives about individual progress as instructed by the Board-Certified Behavior Analyst.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree, preferably in a Human Services field such as social work or psychology.
  • Knowledge of intellectual and developmental disabilities, clinical syndromes, and intellectual or developmental disabilities with co-occurring behavioral or mental health needs.
  • A valid driver's license is strongly preferred for California assignments.
