Gusto launches automated compliance solution to ease multi-state hiring burden for 500K small businesses

Gusto has launched Business Compliance, a solution that automatically handles state and local compliance obligations for small businesses, particularly when hiring employees across state lines. The service registers businesses with state agencies, files annual reports, monitors government mail, and provides proactive compliance alerts. The launch follows Gusto's acquisition of compliance automation company Mosey less than six months ago. According to a recent survey, half of small business owners say compliance negatively impacts their growth, with three in four citing tax filing as their most time-consuming compliance task. Business Compliance is now available to all Gusto customers. The company also announced Gusto HR Partners, which provides access to senior HR leaders, available to eligible customers today. Gusto PEO, offering comprehensive payroll and benefits support, will launch in coming months.

Rich fiordilatte, crunchy crumble, rum, and raisins: Casa Manfredi's legendary maritozzo becomes an ice cream in Milan for just 14 days.

Rich fiordilatte, crunchy crumble, rum, and raisins: Casa Manfredi's legendary maritozzo becomes an ice cream in Milan for just 14 days. From September 7 to 20, 2026 - and then again in November for Maritozzo Day - Gusto 17's stores in Milan will feature "Maritozzo 17," a limited-edition flavor born from the collaboration between Giorgia Proia's Roman pastry shop and the Milanese artisanal gelato brand. August 26, 2026 A leavened pastry that symbolizes contemporary pastry-making, transformed into gelato without losing its identity. This is the concept behind Maritozzo 17, the limited edition born from the collaboration between Casa Manfredi - the signature pastry shop founded in Rome in 2015 by pastry chef Giorgia Proia and her partner Daniele Antonelli - and Gusto 17, a Milan-based premium artisanal gelato brand. Two time periods, two Milanese stores. The flavor will be available during two distinct periods: from September 7 to 20, 2026, and, in celebration of Maritozzo Day, from November 23 to December 6, 2026. The participating locations are the two Gusto 17 stores in Milan, at Via Luigi Cagnola 10 and Via Savona 17, as well as the Salerno location at Piazza Portanova 36. The flavor will be available in cones, cups, and tubs. Anatomy of a flavor. Maritozzo 17 is built around a fiordilatte with a richer texture than usual, enriched with a maritozzo crumble that recreates its textural quality, and finished with rum and raisins - the signature ingredients of Giorgia Proia's original dessert. The stated goal is not a faithful reproduction, but rather a translation of the pastry's identity into the language of gelato: the same textures, the same aromas, a different format. "The goal wasn't to replicate a dessert, but to translate its identity into the language of gelato," explained Vincenzo Fiorillo, co-founder of Gusto 17. Giorgia Proia emphasized that the collaboration is an expression of the creativity and passion that have driven the Casa Manfredi project since its opening. Casa Manfredi: from the capital to Milan. Founded in 2015 on Viale Aventino in Rome, Casa Manfredi is now a recognizable icon of contemporary Italian pastry. Giorgia Proia, an architect by training, honed her craft alongside masters such as Gianluca Fusto, Rolando Morandin, and Antonio Bachour, developing an approach centered on ingredients and artisanal precision. In 2023, Casa Manfredi opened a second location inside the Teatro di Roma, at Via dei Conciatori 5. With Maritozzo 17, the Roman project makes its debut in Milan through a partnership with one of the city's leading gelato brands.

What S-Corp bookkeeping involves.

What S-Corp bookkeeping involves. Payroll processing. You must run payroll for yourself as a W-2 employee. This means calculating withholding, making payroll tax deposits (typically semi-weekly or monthly depending on your payroll size), and filing quarterly payroll tax returns (Form 941) and annual returns (Form 940, W-2s). Most S-Corp owners use a payroll service - Mygappro integrate with Gusto and QuickBooks Payroll. Distribution tracking. Distributions you take above your salary are not expenses - they come out of equity. They need to be recorded correctly in QuickBooks so they do not artificially reduce your taxable income. Shareholder basis tracking. Your basis in the S-Corp determines how much you can deduct if the business has a loss, and whether distributions are taxable. Basis increases with income and contributions; it decreases with losses and distributions. If you do not track it, you may lose deductions you are entitled to - or face unexpected taxes. Loan vs. distribution classification. If you take money out of the S-Corp and intend to pay it back, it needs to be recorded as a shareholder loan, not a distribution. The IRS scrutinizes this closely. Quarterly estimated taxes. As an S-Corp owner, you still owe estimated taxes on your K-1 income. Your bookkeeper should be generating quarterly reports so you can calculate and pay these on time. Year-end preparation. Your S-Corp books need to be clean and complete before your CPA can prepare Form 1120-S. Disorganized books mean higher accounting fees and a higher risk of errors on the return. The reasonable salary question. The IRS requires S-Corp owners to pay themselves a "reasonable salary" - meaning what you would pay someone else to do your job. This is one of the most scrutinized areas of S-Corp taxation. Pay yourself too little, and the IRS may reclassify your distributions as wages - triggering back payroll taxes, penalties, and interest. Pay yourself too much, and you eliminate the tax benefit of the S-Corp election. Getting the salary right requires understanding your industry, your role in the business, and your total compensation picture. This is something Mygappro work through with every S-Corp client. Its S-Corp Salary Calculator can give you a starting point. Common S-Corp bookkeeping mistakes in Abilene. Not running payroll at all. Some business owners make the S-Corp election and then continue taking money out as draws without setting up payroll. This is a serious IRS compliance issue. Mixing salary and distributions. Every dollar that comes out of the S-Corp needs to be classified correctly - salary (subject to payroll tax) or distribution (not subject to payroll tax). Mixing them creates problems at tax time. Not tracking basis. Basis tracking is often skipped because it seems complicated. But if your S-Corp has a loss year, you may not be able to deduct it without sufficient basis - and you will not know until it is too late. Falling behind on payroll tax deposits. Payroll tax deposits are due on a strict schedule. Late deposits trigger penalties that start at 2% and escalate quickly. This is not an area where you want to be behind. Treating the S-Corp like a sole proprietorship. The S-Corp is a separate entity. It needs its own bank account, its own records, and its own bookkeeping - completely separate from your personal finances. What S-Corp bookkeeping costs in Abilene. S-Corp bookkeeping is more complex than standard LLC bookkeeping, and the pricing reflects that. Most Abilene S-Corp owners pay between $350 and $600 per month for bookkeeping that includes payroll processing, distribution tracking, and quarterly reporting. This is significantly less than the tax savings the S-Corp election generates - for most owners, the bookkeeping cost is paid for many times over by the reduction in self-employment tax. Why Abilene S-Corp owners work with The Gap ProAdvisors. Mygappro specialize in bookkeeping and tax planning for small business owners, and S-Corp compliance is a significant part of what Mygappro do. Mygappro handle payroll, distributions, basis tracking, and quarterly reporting - and Mygappro coordinate with your CPA at year-end so the 1120-S preparation goes smoothly. Mygappro is based in Buffalo Gap, minutes from Abilene, and Mygappro work with S-Corp owners across Taylor County and West Texas entirely online. Ready to get your S-Corp books in order? Schedule a free consultation or call Mygappro at (325) 572-3130. Mygappro will review your current setup, identify any compliance gaps, and give you a flat-rate quote for ongoing S-Corp bookkeeping.
