Lucid ex-marketing Chief says commute-or-move choice drove his exit.

Lucid ex-marketing Chief says commute-or-move choice drove his exit. Akerho "AK" Oghoghomeh, Lucid's former Senior Vice President of Marketing, said that he left the company last month because staying would have meant either moving his family from Los Angeles or commuting to the Bay Area five days a week. "Neither felt right," he wrote on LinkedIn on Monday, in his first public comment since Lucid said on July 2, in a statement reported by TechCrunch, that its Senior VPs of Revenue and Marketing and its VP of Program Management "will be leaving Lucid to remain closer to their families and communities." "Last month, I left Lucid Motors," Oghoghomeh wrote, placing his departure in September, two months after the July 2 announcement and after a Lucid spokesperson told MediaPost on July 16 that "Marketing now falls under Billy, and AK will be departing to remain closer to family." "As Lucid's executive leadership team comes together more closely across its headquarters and manufacturing hubs to foster collaboration, accelerate decision-making, and strengthen alignment, AK and the company mutually agreed that this was the right time for a transition," the spokesperson added. "For me to continue at Lucid, the choices were becoming pretty clear," AK wrote. "I could travel back and forth to the Bay Area five days a week, which would mean spending a significant part of my life away from my family, or we could move." "I love the work and believe deeply in the company, but I couldn't justify asking my children to leave the life and community they've built in Los Angeles so that I could continue doing a job I loved," he added. Lucid's headquarters are in Newark, California, and its plant is in Casa Grande, Arizona, and Oghoghomeh's profile lists his Lucid job as remote from the Los Angeles area. The restructuring. Oghoghomeh joined Lucid in April 2025 from Beyond Meat, where he had been Chief Marketing Officer since February 2023, after two years as Senior VP of Brand Marketing at Red Bull, according to his profile, and he spent about 17 months at the EV maker. In that time he signed the actor Timothée Chalamet as Lucid's first global brand ambassador on July 29, 2025, and built the "Driven" campaign with director James Mangold around the Gravity SUV. His exit was disclosed on the day Lucid reported a second-quarter delivery miss and named Alexander De Bock as incoming CFO, as Napoli halved the number of executives reporting directly to him and appointed Billy Hayes as Chief Customer Officer. The marketing job was then refilled a level down, with Angela Zepeda, formerly Global Head of Marketing at X and Chief Marketing Officer of Hyundai Motor America, named Vice President of Global Marketing on August 28, reporting to Hayes. Two members of the marketing team he assembled had already gone, growth marketing head Bryson Shellito in April and integrated marketing head Bobby Sherlock in May, nine months after Sherlock joined. The spokesperson told MediaPost in July that Lucid might appoint another Chief Marketing Officer in the future, and the job went to Zepeda at Vice President level. LinkedIn activity. Between the July 2 announcement and the October 19 post, the only other item in the posts section of his LinkedIn activity was a repost advertising two openings on the company's experiential and retail marketing team. AK owns two Lucid vehicles, he said. "I'm not exactly making a clean break. There are still two Lucids in my garage," he wrote, describing himself as "a proud owner, twice over" who believes "Lucid makes the best cars in the world," and adding that he is "rooting for Lucid," for former colleagues and "for every owner who has put their faith in the company and its products." "But for me and my family, this was the right decision," he wrote. "At this stage in my children's lives, I simply wasn't willing to ask them to give that up." Next on Lucid

Lucid's California sales fall 11.6% in Q3 as Gravity slips for second straight quarter.

Lucid's California sales fall 11.6% in Q3 as Gravity slips for second straight quarter. Lucid sold 1,011 new vehicles in California in the third quarter, down 11.6% from a year earlier, as sales of its Gravity SUV fell for a second straight quarter, according to data released by the California Energy Commission (CEC). The total was 10.8% below the 1,133 units of the second quarter and the Saudi-backed EV maker's lowest in the state since the first quarter of 2025, when it sold 964 units. In the first quarter of this year, Lucid recorded its highest quarterly total in the CEC data with 1,549 vehicles sold. The Gravity accounted for 692 of the quarter's sales, or 68.4%, up from 22.8% a year earlier. Gravity sales rose 165.1% from 261 in the third quarter of 2025 but fell 11.2% from 779 in the second quarter. They have declined in each quarter since peaking at 989 in the first quarter of 2026. That peak in California came in a quarter in which, Lucid said in April, "deliveries of the Lucid Gravity were disrupted for 29 days due to a supplier quality issue with the second-row seats." Sales of the Air sedan fell 63.9% year on year to 319 units, and 9.9% from 354 in the second quarter. It was the Air's lowest quarterly total in the CEC data since the second quarter of 2023. Ranked 15th. Lucid was the 15th-largest brand by zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) sales in California in the third quarter, out of 42 brands in the data. It held the same position in the second quarter and ranked 20th a year earlier. Its share of the state's ZEV sales rose to 1.3% from 0.9% a year earlier, and it accounted for 1.5% of fully electric vehicle sales. The Gravity ranked 21st among all zero-emission models sold in the state and 17th among fully electric ones. It trailed Rivian's R1S at 971 units and the Cadillac OPTIQ at 740, and was ahead of the Kia EV6 at 670, the Hyundai IONIQ 9 at 528 and the Cadillac LYRIQ at 460. The Air ranked 34th overall, behind the BMW i5 at 343 but ahead of the Mercedes-Benz EQS at 204, the Porsche Taycan at 173 and Tesla's Model S at 37. Out-of-State addresses. Los Angeles County accounted for 180 of Lucid's third-quarter sales, followed by Santa Clara County with 121, Orange County with 104 and San Diego County with 94. Alameda County, home to Lucid's headquarters in Newark, recorded 78. Another 166 vehicles, or 16.4% of the total, were registered in California with a mailing address in another state, which the CEC lists as a separate "Out of State" category. Airs made up 119 of those 166, equal to 37.3% of all Air sales in the quarter, against 47 Gravity SUVs. In Washington state, Lucid titled 103 new vehicles in the third quarter, according to Department of Licensing data, as EV reported last week. Year to date. From January through September, Lucid sold 3,693 vehicles in California, up 15.3% from 3,203 a year earlier. Gravity sales rose to 2,460 from 319, while Air sales fell 57.2% to 1,233 from 2,884. Lucid's share of the state's ZEV sales rose to 1.6% from 1.0%, as the overall market shrank 29.3% to 233,132 vehicles from 329,665, according to EV's analysis of the data. Californians bought 80,392 new ZEVs in the third quarter, or 19.1% of new car sales, the CEC said. The CEC figures are based on Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) registrations and differ from those of the California New Car Dealers Association (CNCDA), which reported 1,315 Lucid registrations in the first quarter, against the CEC's current 1,549. The CEC treats current-year figures as preliminary and revises them in later updates. Rebate and robotaxis. Lucid has said all of its vehicles qualify for California's MyFirstEV rebate, which offers first-time buyers $3,500 off a new zero-emission vehicle. "As a California company, all Lucid vehicles qualify, regardless of price," the company says on its website. Lucid was one of the first three automakers to offer the rebate, alongside Hyundai and Tesla, according to an August 7 release from the California Air Resources Board. The CEC said the program had helped put 12,000 new clean cars on the road since it launched in August, without giving a breakdown by brand. Lucid had 14 studios and service centers in California as of June 30, excluding temporary and satellite service centers, according to its latest quarterly filing. The company said in August that Uber and Nuro were testing Gravity robotaxis across the San Francisco Bay Area and Houston, after Nuro secured a California driverless testing permit in April. Photos posted online this month showed a camouflaged prototype of its upcoming midsize Cosmos SUV testing on Highway 101 south of San Jose. Deliveries fall. Lucid delivered 3,806 vehicles in the third quarter, down 6.7% from 4,078 a year earlier, and produced 2,954, the company said on October 5. "Demand for the Lucid Gravity continued to regain momentum," it said, without giving figures by model. Lucid's California sales were equal to 26.6% of its third-quarter deliveries, though the CEC counts registrations rather than deliveries. Production fell after Lucid eliminated the second shift at its AMP-1 factory in Arizona in June, as part of a reduction of about 18% of its US workforce, according to a June 22 filing. Lucid last reaffirmed its 2026 production guidance of 25,000 to 27,000 vehicles on April 3. However, a month later, the company suspended its guidance. "With Silvio now on board and conducting his review of the business, we are suspending our prior guidance and will provide a full updated outlook at our second-quarter earnings call," then-CFO Taoufiq Boussaid said on May 5. At the second quarter call, the management said that it wouldn't provide an official annual production guidance for 2026 while warning of a slower pace after the second production shift cut announced in June. The company will report third-quarter financial results on November 9 and host a conference call at 2:30 p.m. Pacific Time. Next on Lucid

Lucid shares plunge after PIF draw as RBC slashes price target by 43%.

Lucid shares plunge after PIF draw as RBC slashes price target by 43%. Lucid shares plunged on Monday, the first trading session after the EV maker disclosed another $400 million draw on its credit line from Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), as RBC Capital Markets slashed its price target on the stock by 42.9%. The stock was down 9.4% at $3.43 at 2:28 p.m. in New York, after touching $3.41, putting it on course for its lowest close since the company went public in 2021. That would break the previous low set on Friday, when the shares closed at $3.79. The decline wiped about $140 million off Lucid's market value, which stood at approximately $1.35 billion based on its 394.07 million shares outstanding. The broader market was little changed, with the Nasdaq Composite down 0.5% and the S&P 500 down 0.1%, while Rivian fell 2.7% and Tesla 0.9%. The filing. Lucid disclosed the draw in a regulatory filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, minutes after the market closed. The company said it drew $400 million on October 6 from the delayed draw term loan provided by Ayar Third Investment Company, a PIF affiliate. That left about $2.1 billion outstanding under the facility and about $400 million of remaining capacity, Lucid said. It was the fourth draw this year and the second of $400 million in six weeks, after $500 million on April 1, $800 million on July 6 and $400 million on August 24. Monday's drop extended the stock's slide to 17.6% over five sessions and left it down about 67% this year and 84% from a year earlier. RBC's cut. RBC Capital Markets Analyst Tom Narayan kept his Sector Perform rating on Lucid while lowering his target by 42.9%, the firm's fifth cut this year. The new target is about 16% above Monday's afternoon price and 5.5% above Friday's close. Narayan cut his 2027 revenue forecast for Lucid to $2.8 billion and lowered the sales multiple he applies to the company to 0.5 times from 0.7 times, citing disappointing Gravity sales, according to a summary of the note published by Benzinga. He forecast third-quarter revenue of $351 million, about 16% below the consensus of $418.3 million, and expects weaker gross margins as lower output spreads fixed costs over fewer vehicles, according to Benzinga. Narayan models 15,600 deliveries for 2026, below a consensus of 17,100. Lucid delivered 10,852 vehicles in the first nine months, so his forecast implies about 4,750 in the fourth quarter, up roughly 25% from the 3,806 it handed over in the third, by EV's calculation. Lucid's third-quarter deliveries fell 6.7% from a year earlier, and production dropped 24.1% to 2,954 vehicles after the company eliminated a shift at its Arizona plant in June. The delivery figure was about 19% below a Visible Alpha consensus of 4,687, as Lucid sold down inventory, with deliveries exceeding production by 852 vehicles in the quarter. Lucid has given no delivery or production target for 2026 since withdrawing its 25,000 to 27,000 range in May, and has tied the quarter to an operating reset targeting $1.4 billion in cash flow improvements this year. Narayan sees autonomous-driving software as a longer-term opportunity with no meaningful near-term contribution, Benzinga reported. 3 years of Sector Perform. Narayan has rated Lucid Sector Perform since initiating coverage on September 8, 2023, with a $6 target, equal to $60 after Lucid's 1-for-10 reverse stock split in 2025. At the time, he said Lucid's technology was "12%-23% more efficient than its nearest peer" Tesla, but that its "brand awareness is low." He halved the target to $3 in March 2024, saying licensing talks with other carmakers had "largely been reactive," and reiterated it that September, writing that "the greatest upside to shares remains its ability to license this tech." In November 2024, he cut it to $2, citing the "lack of evidence of new deals being struck." That target, equal to $20 after the reverse split took effect on September 2, 2025, was cut to $14 in January, $10 in February after weaker-than-expected 2026 production guidance, $8 in April and $7 in July. After Lucid's March investor day, Narayan said he was "most concerned about the company's liquidity situation." Monday's $4 target is 80% below where RBC started the year. Where the street stands. Baird's Ben Kallo kept a Neutral rating and a $6 target after the third-quarter delivery report on October 6, while StoneX reiterated a Hold rating without a target. The PIF, Lucid's largest shareholder, has lent $2.1 billion through the loan since April, while the stake of Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal recently swung to a paper loss. Lucid will report third-quarter results on November 9. Cláudio Afonso is the Founder and Editor of EV, an independent electric vehicle news publication owned by CARBA, the company he founded in early 2021. Between 2022 and 2024 he worked in European corporate communications at Nio, and he returned to lead EV in April 2024. He is based in Porto, Portugal.
