About the Job

Requirements

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • A deep understanding of low-level system behavior, including memory layout, interrupts, privilege levels, and concurrency.
  • Extensive experience in C programming and strong familiarity with ARM and/or RISC-V architectures.
  • Strong experience with assembly-level debugging and low-level system analysis.
  • A demonstrated transition into security is acceptable for highly experienced embedded engineers.
  • Expert-level analytical thinking and strong intuition for how systems fail under adversarial conditions.
  • The ability to lead complex, ambiguous technical investigations end-to-end.
  • A strong interest in combining deep technical expertise with modern AI-assisted methodologies.
  • The ability to influence technical direction across teams and organizational levels.
  • Clear and authoritative communication of technical risks and findings.
  • A mentorship mindset and willingness to develop others.

Responsibilities

  • Lead in-depth vulnerability analysis of embedded software, including bare-metal systems, real-time operating systems, and trusted execution environments.
  • Drive analysis of boot flows, privilege boundaries, and security-critical components such as cryptographic libraries, key handling, and isolation mechanisms.
  • Own root cause analysis and assess exploitability and systemic impact of identified weaknesses.
  • Define and guide security evaluation strategies for certifications such as PSA, SESIP, and Common Criteria.
  • Lead analysis of PSIRT incidents and drive structural and architectural improvements.
  • Architect and develop advanced analysis methodologies and tooling, including static analysis, fuzzing, and automation frameworks.
  • Define and scale the use of AI-assisted techniques for code analysis and vulnerability discovery, including large language model-based and agentic workflows.
  • Design and institutionalize workflows combining traditional static and dynamic analysis with AI-assisted approaches.
  • Evaluate and introduce emerging attack techniques and incorporate them into internal methodologies.
  • Influence product teams and architecture decisions by translating findings into systemic mitigations.
  • Mentor and guide other engineers in vulnerability analysis and research methodologies.
  • Perform security-related work in scope for security certifications, using a conscious and reliable approach.

Desired Qualifications

  • A proven track record in vulnerability research, reverse engineering, or exploit development.
  • Deep experience with static and dynamic analysis tools, fuzzing, or symbolic execution.
  • A strong understanding of vulnerability classes, including memory corruption, logic flaws, and side channels, and exploitation techniques.
  • Experience with debugging interfaces such as JTAG, trace, and GDB in complex systems.
  • Experience evaluating and operationalizing AI-assisted vulnerability discovery tools and workflows.
  • Experience building scalable and automated analysis pipelines, such as scripting, distributed systems, and agent-based approaches.
  • Rust experience or a strong interest in memory-safe system design.

About the Company

NXP Semiconductors

Automotive semiconductors and secure embedded solutions

NXP Semiconductors designs and sells semiconductor chips for vehicles and other devices. Its products include automotive-grade microcontrollers and other ICs used in engines, infotainment, safety systems, and networked car architectures. These chips process data, run software, and enable features such as advanced driver assistance and vehicle connectivity, often with strong security and real-time performance. Unlike some peers, NXP became an independent company after Philips spun off its semiconductor unit in 2006 and later merged with Freescale in 2015, building a focused strength in automotive semiconductors and microcontrollers. This gives it a clear niche in the market and the goal of growing as a standalone leader in smarter, connected vehicles and related technologies.
