Requirements
  • At least 2 years of experience originating CRA residential mortgages; 4 years of experience is preferred.
  • An established referral network capable of providing CRA mortgage leads.
  • Prior experience using loan originating software and Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong product knowledge and knowledge of underwriting requirements for Government (FHA, VA, USDA) and CRA-specific mortgage programs.
  • A Bachelor of Arts degree from a four-year college or university, four years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Mortgage Loan Originator License with NMLS.
  • Must be trained in all areas of mortgage lending.
  • Must maintain employer- and industry-required continuing education.
  • Must meet compliance requirements imposed on the bank by state and federal law and regulation, including Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, Office of Foreign Assets Control, suspicious activity reporting, and other lending and deposit compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
  • Consistently achieve monthly loan production volume specified in the Mortgage Loan Originator Agreement.
  • Generate new business to assist in meeting established Community Reinvestment Act goals.
  • Develop and maintain a business plan for growth of this business area.
  • Network with community organizations, local business leaders, housing agencies, realtors, builders, and other referral sources to generate mortgage leads, focusing on Community Reinvestment Act products.
  • Evaluate potential customers’ needs and offer appropriate mortgage products and services, or refer them to an appropriate bank specialist.
  • Prepare and compile mortgage applications and information for processing generated mortgage loan applications.
  • Ensure loan documentation is complete.
  • Oversee the timely closing and funding of loans.
  • Provide ongoing relationship servicing to current mortgage customers to maintain goodwill and gain additional business.
  • Respond to mortgage inquiries and account requests.
  • Promote and cross-sell other bank products and services as appropriate to customer requirements.
  • Provide data to support marketing and sales promotion programs.
  • Work directly with the Community Development Operating Council to assist with Community Reinvestment Act loan initiatives in the local market.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
