About the company

Tesla designs and sells electric vehicles and renewable energy products. Its cars (Model S, 3, X, Y, and Roadster) run on battery power, with a semi-autonomous Autopilot driving system and a global network of fast-charging stations called Superchargers. The company also provides solar panels, Solar Roof, and energy storage products (Powerwall, Powerpack, Megapack) to generate and store clean energy for homes and businesses. Tesla operates with a vertically integrated model, manufacturing key components (batteries, drivetrains) and selling directly to customers via its website and stores, while earning revenue from vehicle and energy product sales and regulatory credits. Its goal is to speed up the world’s transition to sustainable energy by combining mobility and energy solutions in one ecosystem.

What believers are saying

  • September 29, 2026 credit facilities give Tesla $30 billion liquidity for expansion.
  • Nevada Semi factory began volume production September 24, 2026, targeting 50,000 trucks annually.
  • India registrations jumped from 38 in June to 211 in September 2026.

What critics are saying

  • NHTSA's March 2026 FSD engineering analysis covers 3.2 million vehicles; recall risk persists.
  • If NHTSA forces an FSD recall, Tesla's autonomy narrative collapses by 2027.
  • BYD, NIO, and XPeng keep pressuring Tesla with lower-priced EVs across China and exports.

What makes Tesla unique

  • Tesla vertically integrates batteries, drivetrains, and manufacturing; Semi uses in-house 4680 cells.
  • Tesla's software stack spans Grok, FSD, and over-the-air updates across vehicles.
  • Tesla's direct sales and Supercharger network still create customer lock-in.

Tesla secures $30B in new credit facilities across three senior unsecured agreements

Tesla has secured $30 billion in new credit facilities through three agreements dated 29 September 2026. The package includes a $20 billion three-year delayed draw term loan facility with Citibank as administrative agent, plus an $8 billion five-year revolving credit facility and a $2 billion 364-day revolving credit facility, both administered by Wells Fargo Bank. The delayed draw term loan permits up to ten withdrawals within 18 months, with available commitments stepping down over time. The revolving facilities support borrowings in US dollars, pounds sterling, or euros, and can be expanded by up to $4 billion. Tesla may use proceeds for general corporate purposes. No amounts were drawn as of 29 September, and the company does not plan to draw on the facilities in 2026. Tesla terminated its existing $5 billion revolving credit agreement with no outstanding borrowings or penalties.

Micron earned more in 3 months than Tesla did in 3 years, predicted to surpass Tesla's market value before 2028

Micron Technology reported $28.2 billion in net income for its fiscal third quarter of 2026, exceeding Tesla's combined GAAP net income of approximately $25.9 billion from 2023 through 2025. Despite this profit gap, Tesla's market capitalisation stands at around $1.47 trillion compared to Micron's $1.22 trillion. Micron's stock has nearly quadrupled this year whilst Tesla shares have fallen roughly 17%. Micron trades at approximately 7 times predicted fiscal 2027 earnings, whilst Tesla trades at about 165 times expected 2027 adjusted earnings per share. CEO Sanjay Mehrotra expects tight market conditions to persist beyond calendar 2027 due to AI-driven demand and structural supply constraints. The company anticipates at least half its revenue will eventually come under multi-year take-or-pay contracts with floor prices.

Musk's $925B net worth stalls as Tesla unveils $200K Roadster and SpaceX tests orbital Starship

Elon Musk's net worth reached $925 billion this week, up over $305 billion since January, though his path to trillionaire status has stalled. His wealth remains higher than the combined fortunes of the next three richest billionaires. Tesla is set to unveil its long-delayed Roadster, priced from $200,000, making it the company's most expensive vehicle. The Founders Series will cost $250,000 with production limited to 1,000 units. Traders expect Tesla's third-quarter deliveries to reach between 450,000 and 475,000 vehicles, compared to 480,000 in the second quarter. SpaceX, trading at $148 per share, will conduct its first orbital test of Starlink V3 on Monday. The company's Starlink business generated $4.29 billion in the second quarter. Analysts project SpaceX revenue will reach $44 billion this year and $108.3 billion next year.

Tesla has a 'no human contact' approach for Semi production.

Tesla has a 'no human contact' approach for Semi production. Tesla is advancing a fully automated pipeline for the 4680 battery cells used in its all-electric Semi, spanning production from Giga Texas through shipment and direct consumption on the line at the new dedicated Semi Factory in Sparks, Nevada. The approach was outlined by Tesla at its September 24 Semi Handover event, which launched high-volume production at its new 1.8-million-square-foot plant in Nevada, which sits adjacent to Gigafactory Nevada and is designed for an annual production rate of 50,000 trucks per year. After years of pilot builds and what was a four-year-long redesign of the truck, Tesla moved the Semi from 2170 batteries to its in-house 4680 cells, which are made in Austin. The change cuts battery mass and total energy while holding range, a key step in making volume production a realistic possibility. Cells will leave Giga Texas in trailers, and at the Nevada Semi plant, Tesla intends for a dedicated line to unload those trailers automatically, station the cells, and feed them straight into pack and vehicle assembly. Tesla plans to use a completely automated unloading process for cells coming from Giga Texas arriving at the Semi factory in Nevada A line will "consume" cells from the trailer The goal is to have zero human touch point throughout the entire process. Insane! pic.twitter.com/wdBFM8LC3F - TESLARATI (@Teslarati) September 25, 2026 Both Lars Moravy, Tesla's VP of Vehicle Engineering, and Dan Priestley, the Head of Tesla's Semi program, described the goal as a "zero human touch point" from the moment the trailer arrives in Texas until a finished Semi drives off the production line in Nevada. The unloading system that Moravy and Priestley described is just one piece of a much broader automation push. The plant uses what Tesla calls the highest-capacity electric monorail conveyance in vehicle manufacturing, carrying frames-in-white simultaneously. Powder-coating replaces conventional paint, and many processes that would normally require operators have been designed out. Tesla has repeatedly said that "the best part is no part," and the cell-handling plan extends that philosophy from the cell factory floor in Texas all the way to final assembly in Nevada. If executed as described, the closed-loop flow would reduce labor, handling damage, and inventory buffers while tightening quality control on a component that represents a large share of the truck's cost and weight. It also shortens the physical and organizational distance between two factories separated by more than 1,200 miles. The Semi itself now shares a bar-wound stator and other components with the Cybertruck, further linking Tesla's passenger and commercial production systems. High-volume output is expected to ramp gradually after the first trucks left the new line in April 2026. Early customers include PepsiCo, DHL, and U.S. Foods. Whether the automated trailer-to-line process reaches the promised zero-touch standard will be visible in the coming months as production scales. For Tesla, the Semi factory is another test of how far it can push "the machine that builds the machine" across sites.
