Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED, additional training, and at least 3 years of HVAC technical training or certification experience are required.
  • All valid licenses or certifications required by applicable federal, state, provincial, or local regulations for the work area are required.
  • EPA and safety certifications are required.
  • Proficiency in the operational fundamentals of heating, air conditioning, and ventilation equipment and related accessories is required.
  • Advanced installation skills for heating, air conditioning, and ventilation equipment and related accessories are required.
  • Proficiency in ductwork and duct-fitting layout and installation requirements is required.
  • Advanced mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate necessary tools and equipment are required.
  • Advanced skills in reading wiring diagrams and troubleshooting electrical, refrigerant, and duct-system problems on HVAC equipment are required.
  • Proficiency in starting up and balancing airflow and aligning belts and pulleys on systems with little to no supervision is required.
  • Advanced skills installing electronic air cleaners, refrigeration systems, hot-water systems, steam-boiler systems, humidifiers, and related equipment with little to no supervision are required.
  • The ability to calculate building heat gain and heat loss using approved methods is required.
  • Effective communication skills to communicate with customers and resolve customer issues, complaints, or concerns are required.
  • Effective time-management and organizational skills are required.
  • A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is required.
  • Availability to work flexible hours and on-call shifts as needed is required.
  • The ability to stand, walk, climb ladders and attic stairs, and maneuver in attics, basements, and crawl spaces is required.
  • The ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl continually is required.
  • The ability to work in hot, cold, outdoor, indoor, dry, humid, slippery, elevated, and congested environments is required.
  • The ability to safely climb ladders rated for a 300-pound load while carrying a 30-pound tool belt is required.
  • Natural or corrected vision with close, distance, and peripheral focus and normal depth perception is required.
  • The ability to lift up to 75 pounds and lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds is required.
Responsibilities
  • Install HVAC equipment and accessories in customers’ homes under the direction of the Field Supervisor or General Manager.
  • Install heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment and accessories according to company requirements and manufacturer specifications, performing limited diagnostics as needed.
  • Design, fabricate, and install ducts and duct fittings as required.
  • Perform start-ups on air conditioning and heating systems and other components.
  • Provide customer service and maintain high customer satisfaction.
  • Promote products and services and communicate replacement-product sales leads to the Sales and Service Coordinator.
  • Deliver and remove equipment needed to complete installation work.
  • Ensure company property, vehicles, and tools are properly used, maintained, and accounted for.
  • Complete paperwork accurately and on time and collect customer payments.
  • Represent the company professionally, honestly, and ethically in business matters.
  • Keep the installation vehicle clean and orderly inside and outside.
  • Follow standard procedures, keep the company vehicle stocked, return defective warranty parts, and order or replenish vehicle stock as needed.
  • Complete material requisition forms and related administrative activities as needed.
  • Assist the Field Supervisor or General Manager with site supervision, planning, and estimating.
  • Assist with quality audits of selected installations to ensure performance, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Train other installers in technical skills and company procedures as assigned.
  • Perform other assigned duties as needed.
