  • Expertise in distributed systems, including tradeoffs across batch and real-time processing, data materialization, and aggregation strategies.
  • Proficiency in a modern backend language such as Go, Java, or Python, and comfort working across multiple systems and services.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example in building observable, debuggable, scalable, and reliable systems; set standards for monitoring, logging, alerting, and data quality checks.
  • Solve interoperability challenges between Payroll Data and core systems such as Object Graph, Reporting, RQL, and AI by ensuring clean abstractions and long-term extensibility.
  • Review designs, unblock engineers, mentor senior engineers, and raise the team’s technical bar.
  • Work with Product, Platform, AI, and other Payroll teams to translate product needs into robust platform capabilities and influence roadmaps with data-informed tradeoffs.
