Requirements
  • A bachelor's or advanced degree in aerospace, mechanical, manufacturing, or materials engineering is required.
  • At least 5 years of test engineering experience spanning hydraulic or pneumatic fluids and mechanical or structural hardware is required.
  • Experience leading, mentoring, or managing engineers, with a track record of developing team capability, is required.
  • Hands-on experience with test rig design, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems is required.
  • A strong foundation in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and static mechanics is required.
  • A strong understanding of fluid measurement, uncertainty analysis, and test data reduction is required.
  • Experience planning and executing qualification test campaigns is required.
Responsibilities
  • Own testing process, hardware, and procedures across prototype qualification and production acceptance testing for fluid systems and mechanical or structural hardware.
  • Develop test methodology aligned with industry standards, evaluate commercial versus in-house test capability options, and plan equipment and facility upgrades.
  • Establish company-wide testing and design policies and set the technical standards the team works against.
  • Design and manage test stand infrastructure, including test rigs, fixtures, fluid loops, and custom tooling for fluids and mechanical applications.
  • Specify instrumentation and data acquisition systems for flow, pressure, temperature, position, and structural measurement, and develop detailed test procedures for development, qualification, and acceptance testing.
  • Lead flow, pressure, leakage, proof, burst, endurance, environmental, and structural assembly testing, including qualification campaigns against DO-160 and MIL-STD requirements, while ensuring safe practices for high-pressure and hazardous-fluid operations.
  • Reduce and analyze test data with uncertainty quantification, author test reports, and lead root cause analysis on failures.
  • Support prototype development in the in-house research and development laboratory and feed findings back into design with engineering and production teams.
  • Set technical direction for the fluids and mechanical test engineers by reviewing test plans and results, coaching on methodology, and unblocking their work.
  • Manage and grow the team, including hiring, performance management, and career development, and represent test engineering cross-functionally with design, production, and program management.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • People management experience in an engineering organization.
  • Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing proficiency.
  • Experience with LabVIEW, Python, MATLAB, or similar data acquisition and test automation tools.
  • Familiarity with DO-160 environmental testing and MIL-STD test methods.
  • Experience testing servo valves, actuators, or high-pressure fluid systems.
  • Experience with Siemens NX or comparable computer-aided design software.
  • Experience across multiple manufacturing sites.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Amca raised $300 million in May 2026 at a $1 billion valuation.
  • The company keeps acquiring suppliers, including BC Systems, Electrocube, Cal-Draulics, and Payne Magnetics.
  • Its F-35 deployment and 67% faster deliveries prove demand for faster qualification now.

What critics are saying

  • Executing six factory integrations after the May 2026 Series B strains quality and uptime.
  • Customer concentration on primes and classified programs makes one program loss immediately painful.
  • If RAPID fails AS9100, qualification, or defense delivery promises, the thesis collapses.

What makes AMCA unique

  • RAPID compresses component timelines 67% and spans design, qualification, and manufacturing.
  • Amca now runs six factories and 123,000 square feet across California, Iowa, and New York.
  • It sells into Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Airbus, Honeywell, and Raytheon.
