Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of quality control management experience in a manufacturing environment, or relevant working experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in an SQF- or ISO-certified manufacturing facility.
  • A successful track record and experience leading and implementing continuous improvement projects.
  • Demonstrated use of continuous improvement and root cause corrective action tools, including 5-Why analysis, Fishbone diagrams, Kaizen, and 5S/6S.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A firm understanding of test procedures, statistics, and process controls.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical ability.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, wet, dusty, or noisy conditions.
  • Ability to work indoors in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moving equipment, noise, and industrial processes.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including eye wear, footwear, and hearing protection.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure all products meet customer requirements by leading the plant's Quality Management System, driving daily quality activities, supporting customer service, and making informed decisions on quality issues across two manufacturing facilities.
  • Build a proactive quality and continuous improvement culture by managing and improving processes that design quality into products and verify conformance.
  • Oversee the accuracy and effectiveness of procedures, forms, work instructions, and communications to floor personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards and maintain approval through internal and external audits.
  • Lead SQF programs as the facility's SQF Practitioner.
  • Track and resolve quality complaints, support and drive continuous improvement projects, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Monitor daily Quality Management System performance, controls, and quality activities.
  • Coach teams, communicate with external stakeholders, and partner with managers and supervisors to investigate issues and develop sustainable solutions.
  • Follow, lead, and drive all safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure department personnel complete required safety training on time and follow all safety standards.
  • Ensure department accident investigations and communications with plant staff.
  • Ensure employees are empowered and encouraged to take correct actions and report events that could affect food safety.
  • Encourage a strong food safety culture and participate in Good Manufacturing Practices and food safety training.
  • Hold the team responsible for following all Good Manufacturing Practices policies.
  • Participate in audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Develop, implement, and administer quality policies and procedures for all employees.
  • Establish and conduct quality training programs for all employees.
  • Work with corporate quality to implement quality policies and perform corrective actions with plant staff.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of the Safe Quality Food system, including food safety fundamentals outlined in the SQF Code.
  • Take appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the Safe Quality Food system.
  • Lead all internal, customer, and third-party audits for the Quality Management System and Safe Quality Food system.
  • Communicate essential information to relevant personnel to ensure effective implementation and maintenance of the Safe Quality Food system.
  • Facilitate customer questions by establishing customer relationships and working with corporate quality and external stakeholders.
  • Collect, organize, analyze, and report process data to internal stakeholders to drive continuous improvement projects and processes.
  • Provide support departments with technical expertise for quality, Safe Quality Food, and process improvements.
  • Lead continuous improvement reporting, activities, and training within the plants.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Attend required training and education sessions to improve work processes.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment in the manufacturing environment.
  • Work in conditions involving various continuous smells and comply with job hazard analysis requirements.
Desired Qualifications
  • Safe Quality Food Practitioner certification and/or internal auditor certification.
  • Lean or Six Sigma certification.
  • Knowledge of bag and extrusion machinery.

Novolex names new chief commercial transformation and strategy officer. Dan Debicella will work alongside Chuck Whittington, Novolex's chief transformation officer, who is due to retire. Packaging group Novolex has appointed Dan Debicella as chief commercial transformation and strategy officer. He will oversee the company's group-wide growth plan, help advance its commercial agenda and support integration work. Debicella will work alongside Chuck Whittington, Novolex's chief transformation officer, who is due to retire at the end of the year after more than 33 years at the company. Whittington will stay on during the handover period to support continuity in integration efforts. According to the company, Debicella will work with teams across the organisation to reinforce commercial functions and introduce more uniform sales processes, aiming to "accelerate" growth. Novolex CEO and chairman Stan Bikulege said: "Dan is a proven transformation leader who delivers measurable results. "He has strengthened commercial execution and scaled performance across multiple companies. He will sharpen our commercial capabilities and help us move faster, execute better and deliver stronger outcomes for our customers, employees and stakeholders." Debicella has more than 25 years of experience in transformation and growth roles in several industries. Most recently, he was president of the Graphics Solutions Division at SGS & Co. Before that, he oversaw enterprise strategy and commercial transformation efforts at Serta Simmons Bedding and Young's Market Company. Earlier in his career, Debicella worked at Bridgewater Associates, PepsiCo and McKinsey & Company on strategy and transformation programmes.
