What Ripple does: Ripple provides enterprise blockchain-enabled financial services that speed up payments and improve cash management. How it works: its platform, built on blockchain and cryptocurrency, enables real-time settlement, liquidity management, working-capital access, and instant payments for financial institutions, enterprises, and governments, including the ability to source crypto assets and manage treasury via a single platform. How it differs: it focuses on scalable, secure CBDC implementations and government partnerships (e.g., Palau) to deliver central-bank-grade digital currencies, alongside proven faster remittances and lower costs from clients like Nium and Tranglo. Its goal: help clients move money faster, more transparently, and at lower cost, while expanding access to digital currencies and CBDCs.

Ripple Prime has launched perpetual swaps covering more than 100 traditional markets, including equities, exchange-traded funds, metals, energy, and foreign exchange. Announced on October 15, the contracts trade around the clock, including weekends, and institutions can post Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin as collateral. The swaps track perpetual futures listed on Hyperliquid, a decentralised derivatives platform, by Trade.xyz. Ripple Prime acts as the principal counterparty, so clients do not trade directly with Hyperliquid. US market maker Virtu is among the first users. The service runs under Ripple Prime's British Virgin Islands licence, so US investors may face restrictions. It builds on Ripple's $1.25 billion acquisition of Hidden Road. The announcement does not require clients to buy XRP, which traded near $1.34 on October 15.
Cross River has added Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin, which runs on the XRP Ledger (XRPL), to its core banking platform. The bank announced the move on October 15. Fintech customers can access RLUSD, ACH, and real-time payments through a single API connection. The service supports round-the-clock transfers between dollars and RLUSD, including cross-border payments and treasury transfers. It is available only in certain states. "Businesses shouldn't have to rely on several different providers to move money across the globe," said Adam Goller, Cross River's head of fintech banking. The deal does not guarantee demand for XRP. RLUSD handles payments, while XRP covers transaction fees and account reserves, so larger stablecoin payments do not require equivalent XRP purchases.
Ripple Prime, the institutional prime brokerage platform run by Ripple, has launched perpetual swaps linked to traditional financial markets. The swaps cover equities, stock indices, exchange-traded funds, metals, energy, and foreign exchange. Trading is already underway, with market maker Virtu among the users. The swaps reference perpetual futures listed by Trade.xyz on Hyperliquid, a decentralised derivatives platform, and Ripple Prime acts as principal counterparty. Unlike conventional markets, the service lets institutions manage positions 24 hours a day, including weekends. Clients can cross-margin positions against other asset classes and post Ripple USD, the company's dollar-pegged stablecoin, as collateral. The service runs under Ripple Prime's British Virgin Islands licence, and Ripple plans to expand to more jurisdictions.
Ripple has partnered with Privy, a Stripe-owned company, to make XRP Ledger wallets easier to build into apps. Users could send XRP or Ripple's dollar stablecoin, RLUSD, without setting up a separate crypto wallet. The tie-up also lets AI agents hold funds and automatically pay for services. The move cuts the steps needed to use crypto payments. Current use remains small, at about 7,000 XRP and 12,750 RLUSD combined. That is activity, but not evidence of large money flows. It does show Ripple preparing to hide the complexity of crypto from users.
