US lifestyle brands expand globally with new stores and pop-ups

US lifestyle brands are expanding their international presence through freestanding stores and pop-ups. Tory Burch, which began overseas expansion in 2006, now operates boutiques across Europe and the Middle East. The brand opens a pop-up at Selfridges Oxford Street on Friday, featuring an Airstream café and exclusive products. LoveShackFancy, Alice + Olivia, TWP, Ulla Johnson and Nili Lotan have opened stores abroad and are seeking new locations. Coach, Ralph Lauren, Alo Yoga, Vuori and Reformation continue expanding overseas. Meghan Labot, managing director at creative agency Love, notes the challenge is "scaling relevance" rather than simple adaptation. Brands must understand how consumers interpret their identity in different cultural contexts whilst maintaining their core values.

Alo names new director of retail strategy and execution.

Alo names new director of retail strategy and execution. 3 hours ago American activewear brand Alo has appointed Gabriel Paz as its new director of retail strategy and execution, suggesting the rapidly expanding brand is eyeing a build up of its physical retail presence. Paz, who is based in Los Angeles, confirmed his new position on LinkedIn. He joins the company from American Express, where he spent three years as senior manager of the retail client group. His earlier career includes roles at Oliver Wyman, where he worked across the retail and consumer goods and brand and innovation practices, and LVMH, where he held the position of director of financial and strategic planning for DKNY. Paz also brings experience in business development and operations from his time at NYU Langone Health, alongside an investment banking background at Goldman Sachs. The appointment comes as Alo accelerates its European store rollout on the back of opening its first contintental site on London's King's Road in 2023. The brand has since expanded across the capital and into locations including including Manchester, while also establishing a presence in Dublin and Amsterdam. Earlier this year, it further revelaed a major German entry spanning Berlin, Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Cologne and Munich. France is also set to become a key market, with Alo preparing a 2,120-square-metre flagship at 92 Champs-Élysées in Paris, reflecting broader efforts to move into high-profile spaces and extend towards wellness-led experiences.
