About the job

Requirements
  • 12+ years of engineering experience (or equivalent depth), with significant time in distributed systems architecture.
  • Solid backend development experience in Java, Python, Go or equivalent, used in production at scale.
  • Domain expertise in billing, licensing, or metering systems, with working knowledge of how these translate across finance, sales, and engineering.
  • Excellent fundamentals in distributed systems, including consistency, fault tolerance, idempotency, exactly-once processing, and stream/batch data pipelines, including high-volume telemetry and event ingestion.
  • Solid fundamentals in databases and data modelling, including schema design, performance tuning, and trade-offs across OLTP/OLAP stores.
  • Working knowledge of Kubernetes and container orchestration, including deployment topologies, scaling and resource management, and operating stateful services in production.
  • Proven experience architecting systems that span multiple teams or organizations with clearly defined ownership boundaries.
  • Excellent hands-on engineering ability, including prototyping, validating architectural decisions through code, and contributing directly on critical-path components.
  • Ability to operate as a Principal IC by leading through technical credibility, collaboration, and influence rather than formal authority.
Responsibilities
  • Define and drive the technical vision and end-to-end architecture for the entitlement, usage metering, overage, and billing platform.
  • Define and maintain the data model and integration contracts across finance, sales/CRM, engineering, and customer-facing portals, and resolve cross-system risks such as data consistency, latency, and ownership gaps before they surface as production or billing issues.
  • Design for correctness under business-calendar constraints, including billing cycles, dispute SLAs, and reconciliation windows.
  • Own production reliability for the platform by participating in on-call, guiding root-cause analysis, and resolving systemic issues rather than applying one-off patches.
  • Shape billing and metering strategy for AI-driven products, including token-based consumption, agentic workflows, and MCP-based agent actions.
  • Guide teams through complex technical decisions and design reviews, establish architecture standards for changes that touch the shared platform, and mentor senior/staff engineers on system design and cross-team tradeoffs.
  • Partner with Product, Finance, Sales Operations, and Engineering leadership to align the platform roadmap with business needs.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with enterprise SaaS licensing or subscription-management platforms.
  • Experience with usage-based billing integrations.
  • Experience designing or evolving pricing/metering models for AI, agentic, or MCP-based products.
  • Familiarity with M&A technical integration, including bringing acquired products' usage/billing data into an existing platform.

ServiceNow's $7.75B Armis bet faces first test as it aims to be No. 1 in security

ServiceNow spent about $7.75 billion in cash on Armis as it aims to lead enterprise security. Chief executive officer Bill McDermott said on September 9 that the company is "now the eighth largest with an ambition to be #1." The company reports third-quarter results after the close on October 28, its first earnings since that claim. Investors will look for a disclosed security growth rate. BNP Paribas estimates security and risk could reach about $1.5 billion in annual contract value, growing 30% to 40%. ServiceNow has not confirmed this. Acquisitions are weighing on margins. Third-quarter guidance is an 8% GAAP operating margin against 31% non-GAAP. Revenue beat estimates in each of the last five quarters, yet the stock fell after the last three reports. Consensus expects revenue of about $4.09 billion, up about 20%.

ServiceNow CFO: Overwork doesn't make a better leader, recovery drives performance

ServiceNow president and chief financial officer Gina Mastantuono says overwork does not make a better leader. Speaking at the Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit, she said recovery is a prerequisite for high performance, not a distraction from it. She criticised the idea that 14-hour days and four hours of sleep show commitment. "That is such a terrible example for the people around us," she said. Prioritising recovery helped her listen more thoughtfully, stay composed under pressure, and improve her work-life balance. Fellow panellist Alicia Hatch of Deloitte said 94% of female C-suite executives played sports growing up. Deloitte projects global women's sports revenue will reach at least $3 billion in 2026, a 340% rise over four years.

Over 25% of S&P 500 stocks are down 40%+: four bargain tech picks, from Netflix to Oracle

More than 25% of S&P 500 stocks are down 40% or more from their highs, even with the index near record levels, as of October 8, 2026. The Motley Fool sees that as a chance to hunt for bargains in tech. It names four picks. Netflix trades at about 18.5 times 2027 analyst earnings estimates, and advertising should drive its growth. Oracle has a $664 billion backlog in cloud infrastructure, but carries heavy debt and burns cash. ServiceNow, hit by the 2026 software sell-off, trades at 7.5 times forward sales as it pushes into agentic AI. AppLovin trades at 13 times 2027 earnings estimates. Its revenue rose 53% last quarter to $1.9 billion.
