Lio provides AI-powered procurement automation for large enterprises by using a multi-agent AI system that acts as a virtual procurement team. Specialized agents work in parallel to research vendors, negotiate terms, obtain approvals, and track deliveries, and the system integrates with ERP and P2P tools like SAP, Coupa, and Ariba, while running in familiar environments such as Microsoft Teams to accept natural-language requests. It refines unstructured requests, ensures policy compliance, and structures data for back-end systems, helping procurement cycles move from weeks to hours and offering cost savings through automated negotiations and spend optimization. Its differentiator is end-to-end, enterprise-grade integration and security (GDPR compliance and Microsoft Azure hosting in Europe), supporting global enterprises at scale and aiming to reduce manual work and total procurement costs.

What believers are saying

  • Andreessen Horowitz led Lio's $30 million Series A on March 5, 2026.
  • Lio says more than 100 clients manage billions in spend with 100% retention.
  • Schaeffler collaboration and Fortune 500 customers validate expansion into U.S. enterprise procurement.

What critics are saying

  • SAP Ariba and Coupa already own enterprise procurement stacks and buyer relationships.
  • Heavy integration depth raises deployment risk; failed rollouts stop procurement transactions immediately.
  • Existentially, Lio loses if CIOs treat agentic procurement as a feature, not a category.

What makes Lio unique

  • Lio runs multi-agent procurement execution, not a traditional source-to-pay suite, in 2026.
  • It integrates with SAP, Coupa, Ariba, and Microsoft Teams without replacing systems.
  • Customers cite 95% adoption and 85% manual-work reduction across enterprise procurement.

Lio raises $30M from Andreessen Horowitz to automate enterprise procurement with AI agents

Lio has raised $30 million in a Series A round led by Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from SV Angels, Harry Stebbings and Y Combinator. The company has now raised $33 million in total funding. Founded in 2023 by Vladimir Keil, Lukas Heinzman and Till Wagner, Lio deploys AI agents to automate enterprise procurement processes. The platform handles tasks including supplier evaluation, contract negotiation and transaction completion across enterprise systems, replacing manual workflows that previously required large internal teams or outsourcing. The startup is already managing billions in enterprise spending. One global manufacturer automated 75% of its previously outsourced procurement operations within six months. Lio competes with legacy procurement software vendors like SAP Ariba and Oracle, as well as business process outsourcing providers. The funding will expand Lio's US operations and enhance its AI agent capabilities.
