Tesco Bank offers banking products and services branded as Tesco Bank, serving over three million customers with deposits, loans, and everyday accounts linked to the Clubcard loyalty program. Barclays provides the underlying banking infrastructure and services, while Tesco Bank delivers its own customer-facing brand and online and support channels. The difference comes from the Tesco Clubcard integration and retailer-branded banking that pairs simple financial products with a loyalty rewards ecosystem under Barclays’ banking engine. The goal is to help customers manage their money a little better each day through straightforward products and reliable service, while rewarding loyalty.

Tesco veteran Colin Quinn announces his departure after 16 year run with UK grocery giant. Colin Quinn has left Tesco where he spent 16 years, most recently holding the role of Director - Head of Customer Insight & Foresight at Tesco Bank. In a LinkedIn post, Quinn, who has also served as Head of Channel & Colleague Insight at Tesco, said: "After an incredible 16 years at Tesco, I have now said my goodbyes and am starting to look for what comes next." He added: "It is difficult to overstate the positive impact my time at Tesco has had on me both professionally and personally. I have had the opportunity to work for both its stores and online business as well as Tesco Bank. I have seen and been part of driving a transformation in Tesco's insight and analytics capability." "When I started, I wasn't a father and now have three amazing daughters that are growing up all too fast. I have learnt a huge amount, made some lifelong friends and will always look back with fondness on my time there. I have no hesitation in recommending Tesco as an employer. It is a company that invests in its colleagues, creates lots of opportunities for development and the people are brilliant to work with. Thank you to everyone who I have had the pleasure to work with for the support, the fun, and the memories." He concluded: "I'm now looking for my next analytics and insight leadership role. If you come across any opportunities that you think might be a good fit for me than it would be great to hear from you." 2026 RTIH Innovation Awards The awards are now open for entries and celebrate global retail technology innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world. Its winners will be revealed at the 2026 RTIH Innovation Awards Ceremony, taking place at The HAC in Central London on Wednesday, 4th November. Its 2025 hall of fame entrants were revealed during a sold out event which took place at The HAC on 16th October and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by award winning comedian, actress and writer Tiff Stevenson. In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: "This is the awards' fifth year as a physical event. We started off with just 30 people at the South Place Hotel not far from here, then moved to London Bridge Hotel, then The Barbican, and last year RIBA's HQ in the West End." "But I'm conscious of the fact that, to quote the legend that is Taylor Swift, You're only as hot as your last hit, baby. So, this year we've moved to our biggest venue yet, and also pulled in our largest number of entries to date and broken attendance records." He added: "This year's submissions have without doubt been our best yet. To quote one of the judges: The examples of innovative developments across both traditional and digital retail spaces were truly remarkable." Congratulations to its winners, and a big thank you to its sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Tiff Stevenson, and all those who attended its 2025 gathering.
Tesco Bank to close Newcastle office as roles shift to Glasgow hub. Hundreds of Tesco Bank roles are at risk after the firm confirmed plans to relocate the majority of its customer service staff to Glasgow (Image: Archives) Hundreds of Tesco Bank roles are at risk after the firm confirmed plans to relocate the majority of its customer service staff to Glasgow. More than 160 jobs could be affected under proposals to close the bank's offices at Quorum Business Park in North Tyneside later this year, with roles transferring to its existing service centre in Glasgow. Tesco Bank said the move would "simplify" its operations as it continues its integration with Barclays, which completed the acquisition of Tesco Bank's banking operations in November 2024. Around 162 staff are currently based at the Newcastle site. A formal consultation process is now under way. The bank said affected employees would be "strongly supported", with a focus on redeployment opportunities within Tesco Bank and Barclays. Glasgow will remain a central hub for the business, with no changes planned for Tesco Bank staff already contracted in the city who moved to Barclays' Clyde Place campus in summer 2025. The bank will also maintain a presence in Edinburgh and is currently seeking an alternative site in the same area, replacing its existing office at South Gyle Crescent. Tesco Insurance and Money Services, which also operates from Quorum Business Park, will not be affected by the proposals.
