About the Job

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Extensive experience with low-power design techniques, including setting power targets for hardware cores, pre-silicon power estimation, and post-silicon power measurement and validation.
  • Deep understanding of power estimation and optimization tools such as Synopsys PrimePower, Ansys Power Artist, and Siemens PowerPro.
  • A solid grasp of synthesis and physical design processes, particularly as they relate to power optimization and management.
  • Knowledge of multimedia intellectual properties, including camera systems, video codecs, and computer vision technologies.
  • Familiarity with system-on-chip architectures and system-level design principles.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Establish hardware core-level power targets, drive power optimization strategies, and ensure that targets are met throughout the system-on-chip execution process.
  • Use industry-standard power estimation and optimization tools, including Synopsys PrimePower, Ansys Power Artist, and Siemens PowerPro, to analyze and estimate power consumption at various stages of the design cycle.
  • Validate power estimates by correlating them with actual silicon measurements on target platforms to ensure the accuracy and reliability of power models.
  • Use deep learning and machine learning techniques to analyze, model, and predict power consumption for next-generation multimedia platforms.
  • Provide ongoing support for multimedia core power optimization and estimate average and peak power throughout the design cycle, from pre-RTL through post-silicon validation.
  • Work with System Architects, Design Engineers, and Verification teams to define, update, and refine multimedia use cases for comprehensive core power analysis.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with hardware design and verification tools is highly desirable.

About the Company

Qualcomm

Designs mobile chips and licenses wireless patents

Qualcomm designs the Snapdragon processors and modems inside many Android phones, and it licenses its wireless patents to device makers around the world. It helped commercialize CDMA, the cellular technology behind 3G networks, and its patents cover core parts of the 4G and 5G standards that phones use to connect. The company does not run its own chip factories; contract foundries make its chips, which it sells to makers of phones, PCs, cars, and connected devices. Device makers also pay Qualcomm royalties for using its patented technology, which forms a second business alongside chip sales. Qualcomm was founded in 1985 and is based in San Diego, California.
