Requirements
  • A specialized diploma from an approved American Registry of Radiologic Technologists program or a current validated American Registry of Radiologic Technologists registry in Radiologic Technology (R) is required.
  • Knowledge of Radiology Information System systems is required.
  • Knowledge of Picture Archiving and Communication Systems is required.
  • Intravenous certification is required.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • Computed Tomography certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is required.
  • The role requires lifting and carrying 40–50 pounds, frequent to continuous standing and walking, and performing role-specific patient-care activities such as kneeling, bending, squatting, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Responsibilities
  • Perform Computed Tomographic examinations on patients under the supervision of a radiologist in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the production of quality imaging and prepare pertinent patient information for physician and care-team review.
  • Deliver patient care and education before, during, and after diagnostic imaging procedures.
  • Operate CT scanners to produce radiographs according to departmental procedures and ensure that images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes.
  • Ensure accurate patient positioning and preparation during scanning procedures, including timely adjustments to patient position and medical dosages according to anatomical circumstances and technical factors.
  • Implement radiation-safety guidelines and provide proper radiation protection during the imaging process.
  • Maintain CT-scanning equipment by performing scheduled cleaning and testing and documenting the results.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with equipment-service personnel regarding repairs and corrections.
  • Assist with scheduling to ensure proper coverage and support administrative needs for efficient department operations.
  • Provide technical and general guidance to CT technical staff, reinforce adherence to department procedures and confidentiality guidelines, and assist the supervisor with workload evaluation and training and development.
  • Perform related technologist duties as directed by the supervisor or manager, including quality-assurance and quality-control activities.
  • Maintain continuing education required for licenses and the job position.
  • Act in a supervisory capacity when the regular supervisor is absent, as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
